The water table might be collapsing. It's sinkhole season

Damn, missed it. I'm in St. Pete/Clearwater area, but was towards downtown St. Pete at that time. Didn't notice anything - however last night around 1:30 a.m. there was a huge boom, no clouds, open sky, sounded deep like a cannon blast but in the air because it didn't reverberate on anything at ground level.

Could it be a Gotham Shield-type exercise?

I'm in Largo about 9 miles North of St Pete. I was laying in bed at that time, didn't hear or feel anything. St Pete is in Pinellas County, a little peninsula hanging off of the main peninsula of Florida. Florida's "Thumb". Whereas most of Florida's Limestone is prone to collapsing and creating sinkholes, Pinellas, especially South Pinellas where St Pete is located, is not as prone to sinkholes. We are essentially a sandbar. At my old house I put in a fence and hit the water table digging in the posts, Lol. However, we do get random booms frequently, like the "Guns of Seneca". We also are very close to Macdill AFB and used to be directly under the re-entering Space shuttle's last bank before landing at Cape Kennedy.

Hey guys just so we have a record of this, that call from my friend was about an hour before I started this thread. So it looks like whatever it was that happened, it happened around 7:30/8:00 pm EST.

I heard something boom last night around that time I'm 20 miles from there.

I thought it was just a transformer blowing off in distance

All of his neighbors were out in their yards when I got over there to help haul some brush this morning. At least six different houses on his street had their windows rattle and most of them had spoken t family or friends in the area who also heard the booms. One guy said his dad heard it in Crystal River which is about 50 miles away.
