Basically, your employer can work you sixty hours one week and twenty hours the next and call that forty hours each week. It is amazing how few people have commented on this post. Where are all of the president's supporters? Surely there must be a good reason for this, that somehow it is good for the economy and Trump is playing 12D chess and we should wait and see... |

Most state have their own laws governing OT etc. Now in TX, the only state I'm certain of, wage laws mirror fed law for the most part. Texas is an employer freindly state. CA is the polar opposite of TX in regard to employment laws. |

I went in with her and in front of the HR person she explained that she would take the job ONLY if it ended at 5:00pm during the week and did NOT include extra work on the weekends. So now, when they want her to work after 5:00pm or take a weekend on call shift they have to pay her overtime or she simply won't do it. I'm not sure how long this is going to last, but she's been raking in the dough the last few months.
