Actually, no. I'm a pilot and I've never seen the curvature. But here's a simple yet powerful experiment anyone can do; especially, if you live on the coast and have land mass on the other side that you can see with binoculars or a telescope.

I'm retired in Mexico. From my beach house I can see the other side of Baja California. There is a mountain peak 1,200 ft in height. The distance between that mountain on the other side of the ocean is 82 miles.

Grab a calculator:

82 miles squared x 8 inches = 53,792 divided by 12 = 4,483.

4,483 minus 1,200 (mountain peak) = 3,283.

Science proves that the mountain peak should be hidden below 3,283 feet of curvature. It is impossible for me to see that from my vantage point if the earth is a ball.

I am trying to debunk flat earthers but either our planet is much much bigger than it is or it's not round.

Go with the evidence and not with the brainwashing and cognitive dissonance. There is no reason to insult if all you're doing is scientifically finding the truth.

Assuming his observation is at sea level plus his height his math is correct.

You can easily prove the earth is not rotating by waiting till night-time, and standing with a Tree or Building in between your view of the stars. Take one step to the left, then one step to the right and notice how much the stars move in relation to the Tree/Building.

If the earth were spinning 1000 mph, you would notice the stars moving much more than they did when you took a single step.

Just need a big marble and big flat surface lol.

Could you explain why you "squared" the miles and then multiplied by 8 inches?

There are 43,2960 feet in 82 miles... where do you get the 53,792 from?

Care to debunk the math? The formula is given to us by measuring the circumference of our plane(t). Instead of saying no, offer a valid rebuttal.

8 inches... but then the next drop is already starting out on a down curve... and by the time you get 1/4 way around the planet, your mile is a negative rise with no run and therefore it dont drop 8 inches per mile, but each successive mile has more drop.

by the time you drop 1/8 of the way around the circumference, you have the same negative rise as run.

Because that is the correct mathematical formula:

Miles squared x 8 inches divided by 12 = Distance in feet.

That is the total for the multiplication of 82 miles squared x 8 inches = 53,792. Then divide the latter figure by 12 to get to the distance in feet. Very simple. If we live on a ball this fact is impossible to debunk. Debunkers, save the insults and bring your science.
