The United States cares about France because, if it wasn't for the French sending warships, American Colonists would not have defeated British General Cornwallis at Yorktown and may never have won the revolutionary war!

Thanks to the French arriving just in the nick of time, and bombing the hell out of the British fort at Yorktown, Cornwallis was forced to surrender.

As such, those of us who know history, have a special place in our hearts for France.
