Serious NYC & LA casting for interracial began in the late 90's.
Like being unable to speak Spanish to get a job in Hometown, USA, actors found if they looked like one distinguishable race they suddenly didn't qualify, were less than.
It still gives me the "lowered expectations" theme song viewing these couples.
