I mean isn't it logical to hold the view that God cannot be proven or disproved (not Atheist).

However to still hold some faith that Jesus would understand this position..

I mean he would understand a position like this in this day and age?

The onus would have to lay with him.. He has the power and many terrible things happen that make people question why it is allowed.

We weren't blessed to be a witness in Jesus' time and space.

I don't want to be a blind believer, it's illogical.

How do you think the Lord defines guilt?

If the nation you live in and support is founded in blood are you guilty?

If you despise any 'neighbors', such as people on welfare are you guilty?

If you support the modern economy in any way are you guilty?

If you do any of these things and still consider yourself Christian are you guilty?

I believe that it is Okay OP. Hope is a basis for belief, although belief isn't all it is cracked up to be i guess. Faith is where it is at, faith that God is good, knows what it is doing and is fair and just.

I believe in emu's although i cannot remember if i have ever seen an emu in real life, maybe at a zoo or whatever. However my faith that the emu will kick me in the face for encroaching on its personal space or something lets me live my life in a way where i try to avoid encroaching on an emu's personal space.

Not sure if this answered your question OP, but i really wanted to type this.

Re: Is It Okay To Be Temporal Agnostic but Still Hope For a Gracious God?
Came up in a recent Mass reading, OP.

From John Chapter 12:

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

He seems to imply that not believing is not as bad as rejecting His message.

Well the thing is, Eternal Life is a gift, you take it or you reject it.
If you decide to not take the gift of Eternal Life how can you then live for ever?

Jesus tells you to come.

I'd say this verse tells you what you need to know:
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Luke 11:10
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Start looking, don't stay with the status quo.

Jesus is knocking on your door:
Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

It ain't easy.

To withstand any doubt that the faith was a man made tool is impossible for some. A struggle.

Blessed are those who believe but have not seen.. I hear that.

I struggle.

I still hope.

I need to rest at a conclusion and temporal agnostic seems to give me respite.

Ask yourself how God would feel about you, you do not necessarily believe he exists, but you have faith that if he exists you trust him to be a fair, just and good god.

But a good god is scary, it is the ultimate good and we are not. We are able to approach, but it ends there, we all step on snails whether we want to or not. That is where the fear of God comes in, not that you should be constantly afraid of a vindictive and impulsive god. But you should sometimes be fearful of a good and just God because neither of us are worthy to be those last two qualities.

I hope i get across what i mean and i hope you are not noticing that i get drunker and drunker with each post.

Re: Is It Okay To Be Temporal Agnostic but Still Hope For a Gracious God?
I was agnostic for all of my youth. I was seeking the truth. I slowly came to the realization that there was a God. To me, all available evidence indicated that this is so. Then I began to seek the best way to My Creator.

I am now a Traditional Catholic, meaning (for those who do not understand the destruction wrought by Vatican II), I attend a Tridentine Mass at an SSPX Chapel.

I was raised by a control freak asshole stepfather, who believes his own ego is the highest order of the universe. My mother was raised by a 32nd degree Mason, and I got a thorough indoctrination in New Age crap. Not force-fed, but not discouraged either. I tried to read the "KJV bible" when I was younger but never could make sense of anything. I didn't have a foundation in history either.

When I began to explore Traditional Catholicism, I bought a Douay Rheims Bible. As I read it, the information began to jump off the page at me.

The point is, if you are honestly seeking, if you can put your ego aside for the sake of the truth, you will find God and Salvation.
