- put out 10 application min per day, end the day volunteering, unless you really are making ends meat, panhandle
- come up with your own job, small business, it's the american dream. entrepreneurship.
- got an idea, an invention - go for it
- find government jobs
- food bank, other free/handout things - find them

He has applied for over 20 different jobs, not ONE phone call yet for an interview...

No one gets a job with just a high school diploma ffs. At least he needs to go to trade school.

How about certification training...

He can get Python and C++ training and certification online for free, both of which will make him instantly employable in the Google (they use Python) and all-computer world (tons of places use C++.)

He could literally pull down over $100K per year just by getting these two certifications. If he has ANY imagination, he could use both of these to develop an ap that will make him disgustingly rich for decades to come. Just because he knows how to write the code...and most people don't. It is a brief, opportunistic window in which we currently live. He should grab it by the balls before it is too late, or he will spend his life framing houses in the shittiest of weather, until his arthritis makes him stop.

Fucking sign him up for coding classes, and tell him to get the fuck out if he refuses.

Basic low level entry level jobs, grocery stock clerks, bank teller jobs, security guard jobs, etc. Low level income entry jobs.

I agree with the trade school recommendations.

Networking is key, you have to know someone somewhere to get him in the door. A high school diploma is not going to open many doors.

The entire education system is a total RIPOFF. They want you to borrow more and more money digging yourself into a debt trap that can never be paid off. College is a complete SCAM! It isn't worth it!

Your Mom is showing. He couldn't have graduated too long ago. His JOB right now is looking for a job. He should be up and out by 8am M-F actively seeking employment. There's plenty of work for those who want it.

Look for a local tree service company to work for as a groundman.

How long did he look? There are jobs everywhere I can see in my local paper, gardeners, carpenters, sales, restaurants, drivers, book keepers. What does he want entry level at an office?

Now way school is out yet.

Secondly, he must face the fact that employers don't want young ones today. They view them as lazy, phone-staring useless zombies. Which is pretty much true.

He can go to one of the unions. Their always hiring tradesman. Plus, they get pay and benefits while they learn the trade.

Wrong and Wrong! You can get scholarships/pell grants to help pay for school.

Now, if you pick a major like philosophy or art then yea, you're pretty much screwed. But, if you get into something like medicine/law/engineering,etc...you'll be making great money.

It also sounds like your son didn't fall far from the family tree, so I'm sure he'll be better off not going to school, and becoming a limousine driver or a garbage man instead. Good luck!
