i know (not closely) three people who are on disability for mental illness issues and while you might think all of them cld work, with one of them the only time the person is safe to be around is when medicated and the medication renders the person too tired to function and when not on meds = crazytown dangerous ... the other two one might think cld work, but one gets bad bouts of debilitating depression, depite medication, which wld interfere with any job and the other can be aggresive nasty bitchy personality wise in-between apologizing for behavior that i dont see how anyone wld keep the person employed ... way too unstable and unpleasant to be around (maybe bc never learned boundaries or as a result of drugs done when younger or life or bc underlying personality disorder, idk)

hving had infections which crossed blood brain barrier and caused erratic neuro-psych symptoms myself, i cannot imagine living like that my entire life. i really feel badly for these people, but i dont want to be around them (wld be different if you loved someone though as long as they werent destructive to your life), not for any extended amount of time .... wld not want to work with someone like that ... responding angrily without knowing why when normally you are a laid back chill person ... and not really being able to stop oneself from those negative impulses which wldnt even happen normally is not easy to deal with at all ... being like that ones whole life? not good....must be really hard (if they are able to be aware of it) ... one of these people was a cleaning lady for me for awhile ... i cld not put up with her, so if i cldnt put up with someone like that doing a cleaning job, how is someone like that going to hv stable employment (i generally give people a long lead and am pretty understanding)

it is not easy for these folks to get on disability and the money is not much at all, esp. if they didnt work or work long enough to get ssd vs. ssi.

we shld actually be providing MORE for these people, not less.
