Yes, OP, I noticed that, and am sick of it, too. I'm also sick of the way lying is condoned in several ads I've seen lately and in some cases in the regular programming as well. (Pls don't anyone tell me to stop watching - I had it turned off week before last....and what a hard time they gave me about it! Ridiculous.)

The most common theme in commercials is the husband being stupid while the wife is intelligent and disrespectful of him. Following close behind is the smart black guy/dumb white guy thing, but actually that's starting to trail off. There's a car insurance commercial now where the white guy is the one with the good insurance.

It's the first one I've seen in years that goes against it. Pay close attention to see the trends. It's almost like the culture subconsciously applies these correctives or something...

The smart woman/dumb husband thing is still going strong, though.

It's the actors playing the fools and nutty characters that are the stars of the show, that get the fame and fortune and get remembered for the role. Nobody remembers the black guy. He's wallpaper.

Because they are trying to sell products. In order to do so, they depict scenarios that the typical male can relate to.

I call them the "lowest common denominator".

They portray them like that because that's how the majority are.

Black people have lived with the reversed version for decades/centuries. Suck it up kid, it's just that time of the cycle. The day you stop noticing if the 'stupid guy' is black or white, you'll know you've made some progress. Having a VERY small taste of what black people endure on a daily basis, is one small step in that progress.

Right here is what is, most likely, the truth. Regardless of race, the majority of people are not all that bright. The average IQ, stood at about 100, the last time I read up on it, which means an awful lot of people you pass in the street have an IQ significantly below the 100 mark. SCARY!

I simply add every corporation that clearly tries to sell something other than their actual products in their ads to my personal boycott list. I don't even care precisely *what* agenda they're trying to push, I just don't want to do business with people who try to mind control me.

Like IKEA's latest TV ads in Sweden, where they are far more concerned with promoting race mixing than with selling furniture. I don't even care about people finding love in unorthodox places, but I do strongly oppose people who make a political agenda of it.

Funny thing is, it's rarely a loss to dump these sneaky corporations, they usually only sell crap products anyway. The last time I was at IKEA's, I could literally not find a single thing I would willingly put in my home if they paid me for it.
