Starbucks WINS! Seattle will tax sugary soda pop but not diet; lattes apparently exempt
Bastards....

The Seattle City Council on Monday approved a new tax on distributors of soda pop and other sugary drinks. Diet soft drinks were exempted. The tax is expected to take effect in early July and add about $1.18 to the cost of a 2-liter bottle of soda.

Sports drinks such as Gatorade, energy drinks such as Red Bull and fruit drinks such as Sunny D all will be taxed, along with syrups used in soda-fountain pop.

Some council members favored including diet soda, which is more popular with wealthier white consumers. That was one recommendation made after the city put the plan through a racial-equity analysis.

I don't like Starbucks or their products, anyway. The last time I got a coffee, it gave me the shakes and made me feel as if I would faint. What's in that coffee, anyway?

I think they won't have to worry about taxes or no taxes pretty soon. Don't you think their income is already suffering? I would guess so.

coke/pepsi should be pissed about the business they'll lose over this and ideally will join together to turn seattle into a desolate crater, destroying starbucks in the process.

They need the money for social justice programs. You know, helping homeless drug addicted men, giving them supervised heroin injection sites, housing, ebt cards for discounts on Amazon prime, new choo choo trains, Kasama Sawant statue in Pioneer Sq. The list goes on..

Yeah, punish pepsi and coke drinkers, but leave Starbucks, who's home town is Seattle, alone...

So lets get this logic straight....

Something is "BAD" = TAX IT!

TAXING IT = reduced consumption!

LESS consumption = LESS Business

Therefore

"LESS" Business = GOOD

I get it!

Just in Seattle. Cross the lake and get your less expensive soda in Bellevue.

Oh. So they're not gonna tax the cancer-causing-artificially sweetened diet drinks then. Sounds like libtard thinking, or plans for a reduction in population.

I don't go there, so I don't really care. Frankly, I don't care if they shut down from lack of income.

Adding ONE-PENNY per NET-CARB would spur innovation to make healthy food cost less than the current CARB LOADED CRAP that is so prevalent. Use the funds collected to pay for HEALTH CARE as a OUNCE OF PREVENTION is worth a POUND OF CURE. FIBER CARBS aren't digested so don't count, but are indeed healthy. banana2
