The technical whiz that plays 1,000 mph with zero feeling. 2. The guitarist that moves your soul. I'll take, as an example, John Lennon playing the 2 chords of Paperback Writer over any of these Vai,Mamstein,Satriani whiz bang assholes with their 50 pedals and over modded rigs. I agree. |

I heard him say Rory Gallager was the best guitarist he ever heard. it´s no secret, hendrix like clapton, Hendrix voted for Clapton. Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn are close 1 and 2. Hendrix 3rd. Vivaldi 4th. |

Often overlooked for his place among the legends of rock & roll guitar where he most definitely belongs! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76534884 Michael Bruce from Alice was the genius behind all the songs. Alice would come up with nonsensical lyrics or change ones already penned by someone else. Glenn did his thing, but he was written the melodies or even most it the notable riffs. A lot of that guitar work that people assume was Glenn was not nessarily him. But the point is the House was built on a foundation Michael built. The songs have endured and are still popular and other bands, great bands cover them, that is the highest compliment. |

Not sure if anyone mentioned Steve Morse, (Albert Lee is no slouch here either). [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Last night I was feeling more technical, it was OHMphrey spinning...Chris Poland (Megadave!) & dude from Umphrey's McGee doing 'fusion metal' if that's a thing. Jazz, Blues rock....every scale I had ever studied he had mastered. No list is complete without Steve Morse. Steve Morse. Steven J. Morse (born July 28, 1954) is an American guitarist and composer, best known as the founder of the Dixie Dregs; and since 1994, the guitar player of Deep Purple. Morse's career has encompassed rock, country, funk, jazz, classical, and fusion of these musical genres. Watch a video, you'll see what I mean. [link to youtu.be (secure)] Michael S |
