15 years seems a bit harsh

The US does not have diplomatic relations with NK so uses Sweden's reps. So if Otto were Swedish and not American, what exactly could Sweden do besides issue a (useless) formal complaint? Obviously we know NK is lying about Otto getting accidental bottulism and then taking a sleeping pill which led to his coma.

Assume NK agreed to release him as if he died it would have been more of an international incident. Still it must have been extremely expensive in terms of allocation of the very limited resources and medical personnel in NK to keep Otto in care as long as they have done. This doesn't make sense. They could have "sold" him to then Pres Obama in exchange for a "ransom" of food and $$$.

I feel bad for this kid's family. I read somewhere that the tour he was on was arranged by some group taking tourists to "places your mother would not want you to go" or something like that. No way for me to know if it's true or not.

All that said, wtf is in North Korea that would draw a by all accounts bright college kid there? For real, what is there in NK to see? Monuments to the oppressors? Munitions factories? Work camps? I would think this place would be at the absolute bottom of anyone's travel list. Unless, of course, you were doing it because there is some sort of inherent risk or danger in it.

I'm starting to think he had Botulism and developed Respiratory Failure from paralysis of botulism...but they have no medicine to reverse it there or they chose not to and just kept him alive as a vegetable. I personally think KJU is freaking now because Trump is not going to take this shit from him....he will have the Seals assassinate him after this move.

the doctors also stated there was no evidence of any fractures or healed fractures and they scanned all of his body. Most importantly no skull trauma

it's known as making an example of someone. I gather that in totalitarian places like NK, nobody can be allowed to step out of line or the whole thing is at risk of collapse.

It would have been a really, really stupid move, and typical of a clueless American who thinks (as many do) he can act exactly as he would at home while he is abroad--which is to say, poorly.

But who knows if he really did it?

so, if Botulin Poison had been the Cause of it all 16 months ago, the body would have washed it all away by now, 16 months later.

that initially he suffered Pulmonary Arrest (which i
guess is a fancy term for expatiation, no oxygen),
and it was these Pulmonary arrest that led to
all the subsequent Brain Deterioration.
