If the pope is God on Earth, then fry all those pedos in the church.

He only claims to be.

The last time I defended the Catholic Church here, I was banned because of it. Let's see if this will happen again this time.

I am struck by the malice of you Protestants. I am 33 years old and I have been a Catholic since I was born and I NEVER SEE A POPE SAYING THAT HE IS GOD. Certainly I know the history and doctrine of the Catholic Church much, much better than you.

Re: The pope claims to be God on earth.
The pope claims to be the successor of Peter, to be infallible, God on Earth, and to have the power of salvation.

Cardinal Sarto, who became Pope Pius X, said this:

"..The Pope represents Jesus Christ Himself."

In 1302 Pope Boniface said this in a letter to the Catholic Church:

"Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff."

The papal title Pontifex Maximus originated in the Babylon priesthood.

"The Pax Romana (Roman peace) has ceased; it is a universal confusion. But wherever a Bishop holds his court, religion protects all that is left of the ancient order. A new Rome ascends slowly above the horizon...

The Emperor is no more...but the Pontifex Maximus abides; he is now the Vicar of Christ, offering the old civilisation to the tribes of the North. He converts them to his creed, and they serve him as Father and Judge supreme." -William Barry's The Papal Monarchy

Pope Leo XIII said these things about the role of the Papacy and the Roman Church:

"Our thoughts went out towards the immense multitude of those who are strangers to the gladness that filled all Catholic hearts: some because they lie in absolute ignorance of the Gospel; others because they dissent from the Catholic belief, though they bear the name of Christians.

This thought has been, and is, a source of deep concern to Us; for it is impossible to think of such a large portion of mankind deviating, as it were, from the right path, as they move away from Us, and not experience a sentiment of innermost grief. But since We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.."
 Quoting: Photine

1) The pope claims to be the successor of Peter, to be infallible, God on Earth, and to have the power of salvation.

Answer: I'll split it in points to make it easier.
A) Yes, he claims to be Peter's successor and he is.
B) Yes, he is infallible, and is infallible when he is teaching ex cathedra. I have the impression that you Protestants think that this papal infallibility is 100% all the time.
Let me give you an example: Paul VI's speech at the UN, in which he declares himself to be a doctor of humanities, is not infallible, because he did not pronounce himself as Pope.
C) NEVER, NO POPE, SAID THAT HE WAS GOD. NEVER. I'm going to stand here waiting for your source that certainly will not show up.
D) Never, no pope, said he has the power of salvation. I do not know where you're taking these things from. Once again I will await your source, and I would like you to present me with a primary source, not what a Protestant is saying of what he thinks is the doctrine of the Catholic Church.

2) Cardinal Sarto, who became Pope Pius X, said this:

"..The Pope represents Jesus Christ Himself."

Answer: Yes, he is right. The Pope is the REPRESENTATIVE of God on earth.
Honestly, I do not know why I'm wasting my time here trying to explain the difference between what it's like to be a representative and be the entity itself.
Do you know what a power of attorney is?
Do you know what a diplomat is?

3) In 1302 Pope Boniface said this in a letter to the Catholic Church:

"Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff."

Answer: Answer: Yes, and I agree with him. If he is the representative of God he is right.
It is the shepherd who follows the flock or is the flock that follows the shepherd.

4) The papal title Pontifex Maximus originated in the Babylon priesthood.

Answer: I have no idea what you're talking about, but here's a historical reference.
The Bishops who directed Churches in certain prominent cities were called METROPOLITAN; Later they were called PATRIARCHS. There were Patriarchs in Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria, Constantinople and Rome [capital of the Roman Empire] which was the main city of the West. The Bishop of Rome took the title of "PAI," which was later changed to "PAPA," in the year 304.

5) Pope Leo XIII said these things about the role of the Papacy and the Roman Church:

"Our thoughts went out towards the immense multitude of those who are strangers to the gladness that filled all Catholic hearts: some because they lie in absolute ignorance of the Gospel; others because they dissent from the Catholic belief, though they bear the name of Christians.

But since We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.."

Answer: Yes, he is right. Is it just the Catholics who can be attacked? Can not Protestants?
What goes through your head when you call us idolaters?
My reaction may even seem aggressive but it is only aggressive to those who are stupid and do not understand the subject. Calling someone from idolater is a GREAT thing and you do it with an easy tongue.
It is for these and other reasons that you Protestants offend so easily, because you do not know what you are talking about.

A) Yes, he claims to be Peter's successor and he is.
 Quoting: FeraNenem

Peter is not the "corner stone" of the church, Jesus is.

Peter himself preached this:

4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

1 Peter 2:4-8 King James Version (KJV)

Jesus has Authority, even Peter admits this.

Thread: The Catholic St Peter is actually the pagan god Jupiter, cleverly disguised.

You are exalting an idol of Jupiter passed off as the Biblical Peter over Christ when you say that the Pope is the successor of Peter.

Separated and hateful brethren: The time will come when you will stand before the Lord and have to answer for the bald-faced, disgraceful lies you have perpetuated about His Church, His Mother, and His Vicar on Earth. You seemingly prefer to remain in a state of ignorance, which is exceeded only by your arrogance. Maybe your anti-Catholic trolling is merely an amusing pastime for you, but your eternal salvation is no joke. Cease, desist and repent now, and may God have mercy on your souls when your judgment time arrives.

"The [Catholic] Church took the pagan philosophy and made it the buckler of faith against the heathen. She took the pagan Roman Pantheon, temple of all the gods, and made it sacred to all the martyrs; so it stands to this day. She took the pagan Sunday and made it the Christian Sunday. She took the pagan Easter and made it the feast we celebrate during this season . . . The Sun was a foremost god with heathendom . . .
