What's left of the dam is concrete. It won't burn.

They've got 300 fire fighters on it. Here's a good website for keeping track of all the fires.

the fire is a ways off to the south/east. all that could come of this fire is a few burned homes and mud slides next winter.
nothing to see here, move along.

Re: First flooding / dam spillway failure... Now fire burns very close to Oroville
Reports from anonymous sources say that today a collapse of a house of cards built by a bored security guard on his lunch break occurred at Oroville Dam. The guard sustained a slight paper cut when policing up the cards following the collapse, as the deck of cards he was using was brand new and the edges were still a bit crisp. The guard was treated and released from the first aid shack at the construction site portion of the dam.

This concludes today's Oroville Dam Doom phony news update.

Those of us not familiar with the area are confused....

First we hear about evacuations due to flooding, and then just a few months later, there's FIRE (usually due to DRY conditions).
