Anonymous Coward User ID: 60359 United States 03/12/2007 04:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are two kinds of people supporting the global warming idea, one type of person is honest and means well and is just not well informed and has fallen for this flat earth theory, the other type of person doesn't care what the truth is and they don't mind telling any kind of lie, they just want to get into political power by any means possible, and if they have to kill a few honest scientists to achieve their goals they would be more than happy to do that. If the hard line global warmer supports can't win the argument by scientific facts, then they will tell lies and they will try to destroy their opponents with character assasination, and if that doesn't work then they will try to actually kill scientists who disagree with their stupid ideas. If I were these scientists I would be very careful and take these threats seriously because some nutcase radical may well make an attempt to eliminate them. After all, any action can be justified if a person has convinced themselves that their action will save the planet from destruction. |
Dr.Haggaster (OP) User ID: 205329 United States 03/12/2007 04:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Scientists Receive Death Threats For Questioning Man’s Role in Global Warming Scientists threatened for 'climate denial' By Tom Harper, Sunday Telegraph Last Updated: 12:24am GMT 11/03/2007 Scientists who questioned mankind's impact on climate change have received death threats and claim to have been shunned by the scientific community. They say the debate on global warming has been "hijacked" by a powerful alliance of politicians, scientists and environmentalists who have stifled all questioning about the true environmental impact of carbon dioxide emissions. Timothy Ball, a former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg in Canada, has received five deaths threats by email since raising concerns about the degree to which man was affecting climate change. One of the emails warned that, if he continued to speak out, he would not live to see further global warming. "Western governments have pumped billions of dollars into careers and institutes and they feel threatened," said the professor. "I can tolerate being called a sceptic because all scientists should be sceptics, but then they started calling us deniers, with all the connotations of the Holocaust. That is an obscenity. It has got really nasty and personal." Last week, Professor Ball appeared in The Great Global Warming Swindle, a Channel 4 documentary in which several scientists claimed the theory of man-made global warming had become a "religion", forcing alternative explanations to be ignored. Richard Lindzen, the professor of Atmospheric Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology - who also appeared on the documentary - recently claimed: "Scientists who dissent from the alarmism have seen their funds disappear, their work derided, and themselves labelled as industry stooges. "Consequently, lies about climate change gain credence even when they fly in the face of the science." Dr Myles Allen, from Oxford University, agreed. He said: "The Green movement has hijacked the issue of climate change. It is ludicrous to suggest the only way to deal with the problem is to start micro managing everyone, which is what environmentalists seem to want to do." Nigel Calder, a former editor of New Scientist, said: "Governments are trying to achieve unanimity by stifling any scientist who disagrees. Einstein could not have got funding under the present system." [link to www.telegraph.co.uk] |

Can they take an era and plug in some figures and reproduce what happens? [link to www.pbs.org] |
Anonymous Shaman User ID: 208058 United States 03/12/2007 05:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Its sad that we live on an earth that when factions of people have to resort to the threats and manipulations of those who are revved up to believe that we have caused the globe to warm by our Co2 emmisions.Myself as a scientist have followed very closely the stories and proclamations of the humans have destroyed the earth syndrome and have made several replies to posts with accurate information as to the cyclical perturbations to our sun and earths grid system(not the utilitys grid guys)The film reflects the facts that we have cyclic anomalies that traverse our universe that come back to visit and we are experiencing that now. With understanding of our planets grid system which is our motor and life gas system might bring the proper science to the front if as was said science guys and gals werent so invested that they would destroy all comers if necessary for their ego and program to survive. Great film,I hope they put it out like Al's.Someday, hopefully the proper earth science of the grid will be allowed out,we really do need to repair the mainstream science of the planet. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 198733 United States 03/12/2007 05:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Actually, most of what was said in the movie is fales. For instance, the satellite data and balloons they mentions as not showing the troposphere getting hotter (one of the two legs this movie stood on?) is not actually true. The data was corrected for satellite drift and equatorial balloon heating, and it turns out that the heating is happening, as about projected levels. The problem? These guys in the movie know this, yet did not correct themselves! NONE of these people is claiming the satellite drift is a hoax or lie by the way, though some are claiming the drift was over estimated by about 30% *Also, why is it a personal attack to say that most of these men in the movie are in the pay of the oil and coal companies, if they are? It IS the truth of the matter. Pick any three of them and do some research, you will find the data no problem. This was a movie from your friends at the oil company, and people should know this before deciding it is the gospel truth. |

Personally I found "The Great Global Warming Swindle" to be a better presentation than the Al Gore film. What struck me about "An Inconvenient Truth" was how much of Al Gore's life and views were included - it appeared politically (and egotistically) motivated. At this point in time I concur with the views expressed in "The Great Global Warming Swindle". It would be nice to see CO2 caused Global warming proponents to refute it - if they can! |
