I have worked at power plants for 20 years. That is a coal plant, not all parabolic cooling towers are nuke plants. As said, main transformers (GSU's), are huge and full of oil. If there is an electrical fault the oil superheats, casing ruptures, oil ignites. During the fault, relays should separate the transformer from the grid and station service to stop feeding the fault. One the electricity is off the fire, all that is left is a traditional oil fire like what you see.

If you live near Anniston, Al. A coal power plant on fire is the least of you worries.

All of the utility Company transformers are in a metal case which is filled with oil as a coolant.

Many of them are made by GE or Westinghouse. GE (Generous Electric) transformers are generally superior when compared to the others.

If the transformer winding's catch on fire and the oil ignites then there is quite a fire.
