That said I sit in the Sun all day in my canoe and building fences and I have not used Sunscreen in a couple decades. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72497887 The straight dope is the Sun Heals! I have an effed up back from a car crash 17yrs ago and I was prescribed OxyContin and morphine for 12yrs due to that car crash. I have been drug free for over 4yrs now and getting lots of Sunlight is one of many ways I manage the pain from that car crash injury. Again, my a$$ is as white as anyone's, and I spend all day in the Sun without burning. AGREED. I too am fair haired & blue eyed & freckled. No sunscreen & YES THE SUN HEALS. Check out Dr. Jack Kruse. UV radiation has increased with the depletion of the Ozone layer. Found current 2017 kid drawings of the sun, all yellow. 2017 pictures of the sun showing a yellow sun. I don't doubt the sun will go through changes and die out eventually. We'll be long gone before any real noticeable change happens. More likely to see Yellowstone erupt than the sun rapidly evolve into it's next stage. I'm sure that transformation takes millions of years if not more. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69885098 But why is it then. when I was younger... up until I turned around 30 I would always get sunburnt after 4 or 5 hours in the sun. I have a very fair complexion. Now I can go on vacation to the beach for a week in a place like Aruba on near the equator and I don't even need to use sun tan lotion. I will still burn, but if I do it takes 4 or 5 days of non stop being in the sun with my shirt off. ???? Your skin became wrinkly and shades itself? |

Quoting: History Lion Its Amazing; The sun changes from yellow to a High UV blue white; and before it happens, they receive an alien signal, that when listened to, caused our bodies to mutate in order to thrive under such high intensity UV. Many older people refuse to hear the sound, so they are forced to live in doors or come out at night.. The sound doesnt work for me? You know they have the data but good luck finding it. As OP stated, the color of the sun will change. Color is merely a visual detection of the wavelength of visible light...different color/wavelength shifts correspond to temperature change: Lambda = b/T Where lambda is wavelength in nanometers and T is the temperature in Kelvin. b is Wien's displacement constant. The formula is derived from Planck's law for the spectrum of black body radiation. You only hear about SpecOps when they go wrong. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 75172838 United States 07/19/2017 12:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A couple years back, I had a bit of a debate with a younger person about how the sun used to be yellow. He swore up and down I was off my rocker...Well, fact was, I am much older than him and witness much more in my days. Quoting: TripleReiki When we were young, we drew the sun as yellow. We even saw the sun as yellow. My son and daughter are 21 and 26 years old. I have some pictures they drew when they were real young, and the sun was light yellow. Correct, as the sun was transitioning. Now, the sun is officially a white star. So, in a period of about 20 years, I have seen the sun change from yellow to blinding white. What I have to say here, is that there is a BIG difference in the UV when comparing a yellow sun to a white sun. Yes, folks are literally burning in minutes. The heat is extreme, and also the light. Stay out of the sun as much as possible because the sun is different and stronger, plus, we and our plants are suffering damage. Try and keep an eye on plants and trees. Where I am at, it has recently been 112 in the shade, and some of my Oak trees look like their leaves are dying. Turning yellow/brown and even falling off in the light breeze. I was shaking my head at the folks running to the beach, slathering on shitloads of "sun screen" and playing in and around the water. First, they can damage their skin by the sun reflecting off the water. And second, the sun screens were likely made for the sun we used to know. I don't think the sun screens are going to protect us from the now different sun. Can be a real nice profit margin for pharma, knowing sun screens are not protecting, instead making things worse, and of course, folks must get something to fix the issue they just can't figure out how they get skin cancer since they are using PLENTY of sun screen, yada, yada, yada. Some years back I did a bit of study on suns/stars. There may be an order here in regards to our sun, and if anyone out there knows what we can expect, it would greatly help. Here is the order I am thinking about: Brown star, Red, Orange, Deep Yellow, Yellow, Pale Yellow, White, White/Powder Blue, Blue. We had a Yellow, Pale Yellow and now White star. Could Powder Blue then Blue be next as I think? And what else can we expect from our now White sun? We know skin is being affected. Can our brains? Nervous System? Are our food sources going to die off? Our eyesight? All of my beautiful rose bushes have burned flowers and leaves (except for a few that were not getting as much sun) It is yellowish orange as it always has been. I work in film production & the best 2 times to shoot outside are at Dawn (the first hour of sunlight ) and in the evening at the "Magic Hour" (last hour of the day). The sunlight at dawn and sunset you will find that the sun is indeed yellow as its always has been, and this why you drew it as yellow. this is because this is when the sun looks the best and you can physically look at the sun without worrying about damaging your eyes. Its one of the oldest trade secrets in film production and still photography. You can tell me all you want about what you remember, but the sun hasn't changed in my 41 years on this planet so I don't know what to tell you, because part of my job is looking and using the sun as a source of light for my work. And for all of your esoteric heads, this is spoken about in every legend. The sun of the morning, and the evening star... the light gives everything a beautiful sheen to it. Keep this in mind if you want to shoot some amazing stills of your family or whatever! Cheers! Art is life... |

More and more obvious. Here is perhaps the best explanation I have found. There is something in FRONT of the sun. It's light is white and is hiding the yellow sun. Crazy? Watch with an open mind and I think you will agree there is something to this idea. At the very end he does a demo which illustrates how this works. Very 'illuminating.' It's light when viewed from space is white light. [link to solar-center.stanford.edu] What gives the sun an orange colour, or even a red colour during sunset, is the refraction of the sun's rays through the atmosphere, in other words the further the sun's rays has to travel through the atmosphere, relative to your position, the more red it becomes.
