I do.

I remember healthy WWII vets pushing around lawnmowers that were still strong and formidable.

But going back earlier.....I asked a man about his memories of the 19th century and he told me.

Another friend of mine was too old to serve in WWI!
He was a really fun guy with a good sense of humor. I have fond memories of him.

It staggers me a little bit to think about the passage of centuries. Humans live a long time.

You want to know if we have personal memories of people born over 117 years ago?

Maybe you have trouble with numbers but no, I really mean the 19th century. The century of the Civil War; the century when Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were presidents. I personally knew people of that century.

I thought we live in the 21st century... Am I a time traveler back to the 20th Century to comment on the 19th Century?

Both of my grandparents were born in the very late 1880s. And, two of my seven uncles were born between 1911 and 1917. I clearly remember, and have a lot of fond memories of my grandparents.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.

The house I own belonged to one of my Great Uncles...He was born in 1890...Knew him well...

Also knew his siblings well...The one I knew the best was born in 1885...The oldest sister was born in 1880, and I only knew her for the first 7 years of my life...

The one born in 1885 used to tell me about the Civil War veterans that he knew when he was young...

My Great Grandfather was born in 1857...He lived till 1958...

You must be very old. You talk about WWII and WWI, which were in the 20th Century.

Civil War and Indian uprisings were in the 19th Century, yes, as in the 1860's. So ya, I knew those peeps who knew ABOUT IT or were INFANTS in late 1800's.

No but my dad was born in 1924 and still going strong, lives alone, takes long walks. People were healthy, strong, smart, and independent from what he says.

His house was the first on the street to get indoor plumbing. He was the youngest child and the first in his family to be born in a hospital.

Yeah, you mean personal memories of people born in the 1800s. Yes-- My grandmothers, grand uncle/aunt, and elderly neighbors back when I was a child in the 1950's.

One neighbor was born during the Civil War (died at age 92 in 1955). He was a Presbyterian minister.

Grandmother remembered seeing Geronimo traveling by train (after his release from Dry Tortuga prison) He was a celebrity in the 1890s. She died in 1966 at age 84.

I'm not even very old.
I'm in my 50s and well preserved, with a baby face. I even get carded sometimes in stores. But I had friends born in the century where Thomas Jefferson was president!

That's great and we're all very impressed but it has nothing to do with the 1800s!!

Hmmmm. I don't think so. My nan was born in 1910. If I have met anyone older than her I'm unaware of it.

Hi!

..my late dad was born in 1911, and recalled going to London to visit my grandads relitives in Stepney.and also watch at the railway station as grandad went back to the front in WW1
.My late grandad, the soldier, was born in London on the 1880's, he was already a serving soldier at the very start of WW1, and saw action on every major battlefield of thst war in France, as a medic/stretcher bearer. He told me so many stories of the war and the trenches
Of the last British cavelry charge against germen machine gun posts and mustard gas..I was around 10 at the time...He was a fantastic guy..My dad watched as a child as the German zeppelins bombed London by night.
Lin Ww11 my mum was a nurse working at the main hospital in Exeter, Devon and was there during the bliz she has her eardrums blown out by a bomb precussion.

Excellent, thanks!
The man I knew who was too old to serve in WWI had me fire a rifle for the first time, into the woods. He joked that I had killed a bear. Not that we're all gun nuts here...

I remember my grandfather born in 1897. I'm sure there are a few others but I don't recall their birth dates.
