Where is the footage from that? They tend to be big on promises, particularly at budget time, but fail to deliver data to the public that funds them. Check out the eclipse for yourself. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 71433356 United States 07/24/2017 07:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The corona "is a fairly blustery environment," McIntosh said, pointing out that the Earth is affected by the "space weather" that the corona's changes generate. The strongest solar flares can induce outages in satellites and power lines, which is another reason NASA and other organizations are interested in learning about the connection between the sun and the Earth's environment, he said. The moon will provide an advantage, however, over a coronagraph when the eclipse occurs, the researchers said. The moon is 400 times smaller than the sun and, coincidentally, about 400 times closer to Earth meaning it can cover the surface of the sun perfectly if the two bodies are aligned. A coronagraph, however, needs to be a bit larger than the sun's surface to avoid damage to the telescope. [link to www.space.com (secure)] |

I also plan to photograph the whole sky during totality with a fish eye lens. Quoting: The Gentle Astromut I will be in Lathrop, Missouri. There are 15 rooms for rent, but they were booked, but, its only a 16 hour drive, and gravel roads are a plenty in the Midwest. I have a feeling every Interstate will be packed and full of road rage, lol. |

This is truly creating crimes in order to punish them. ~ Thomas Jefferson, 1779 |

First is an interactive eclipse map, just click to see the eclipse timing at the cursor position: [link to xjubier.free.fr] I'm also planning to use Eclipse Orchestrator to script the photography taken by my SLR during totality: [link to www.moonglowtechnologies.com] It shows the time to each contact during the eclipse at your input location, it can interface with a GPS receiver for the time and location, and it can control most SLR cameras by USB. |

Astromut, I have given my plans to visit a certain small town in Missouri. If I am correct. I will be within 13 miles of complete zero, don't know if that's the term. Will I experience Totality? A noob at best. I would love for my kids to not only witness, but be part of history. Thanks for the feed back. |

It sounds like you should be within the path of totality but you should check to make sure and find out the exact time it will occur. You can check on the conditions at the location you plan to be at using the map I linked to above: [link to xjubier.free.fr] Note that the times are given in universal time. Quoting: The Gentle Astromut Well THAT will piss off the flat-earthers LOL Are you going to make a YT channel or post the footage here on GLP? Both, hopefully. It's not really intended to address the flat earthers, though I will be providing data to Reds Rhetoric who will be filming at a separate location many miles away, and from that we'll be able to do things like measure the topocentric parallax and confirm the distance of the moon. That will piss them off. My all-sky images are more to prove that there was no "Nibiru" in the sky that became visible when the sun was eclipsed, and that anything seen in the sky can be accounted for as normal stars and/or planets.
