are they climate scientists? why aren't their occupations listed when they speak? I live in Melbourne, it hit 37.5 c (99.5F) today and we are supposedly into the 3rd week of autumn. Melbourne used to be known as a city with constant weather change, "4 seasons in one day" kind of stuff, now the weather is fine all the time and it never rains. 10 years ago our water reserves were full, now they are at 33% and the biggest resevoir is at 20%, there will be an inevitable drop to 25% capacity in June before any chance of a top up - see [link to www.melbournewater.com.au]
we are stuffed and way behind on any form of desalination or water recycling. Stage 4 water restrictions will come in to place on the 1st of May which means no outside watering with potable water. Brisbane is on stage 5 which means restrictions on inside water use. Don't tell me global warming is a swindle.

Why did the satanic illuminati launch full scale the global warming campaign in late 2006? It is very simple. The combined action of these three main factors:

- the collapsing economy (-5 pct industrial output in 2006),
- which was the reason for the drastic reduction of gasoline consumption (-8 pct in 2006);
- the mass murder of elderly and other "unproductive" segments of the population in homes and hospitals (I estimated, derivated from other published data, this to have caused a population reduction of 1.7 pct in 2006);

... was NOT ENOUGH to compensate the second year of the post peak oil age (-6 pct global output in 2006).

The illuminati now resort to global warming (which is real) only to try to postpone the final nuclear showdown, by trying to decrease oil consumption just enough to keep it in pace with the decreasing global oil output.

Because if that would not be the case then oil prices would explode.
And the illuminati would be forced to launch the full scale nuclear attack against Russia, since otherwise they know that soon their bodies would be dragged out in the streets.

Although this is a British show, it may make it to the U.S., many do. But I use it, because the lessons of Big Tobacco remain clear in my mind, and all attacks on Global Warming at this point, must be vetted by examining who sponsored the person speaking, and how accurately they are represented.

It was the television programme that set out to show that most of the world's climate scientists are misleading us when they say humanity is heating up the Earth by emitting carbon dioxide. And The Great Global Warming Swindle, screened by Channel 4 on Thursday night, convinced many viewers that it is indeed untrue that the gas is to blame for global warming.

But now the programme - and the channel - is facing a serious challenge to its own credibility after one of the most distinguished scientists that it featured said his views had been "grossly distorted" by the film, and made it clear that he believed human pollution did warm the climate.

Professor Carl Wunsch, professor of physical oceanography at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology said he had been "completely misrepresented" by the programme, and "totally misled" on its content. He added that he is considering making a formal complaint.

A Channel 4 spokesman said: "The film was a polemic that drew together the well-documented views of a number of respected scientists to reach the same conclusions. This is a controversial film but we feel that it is important that all sides of the debate are aired. If one of the contributors has concerns about his contribution we will look into that."

Any complaint would provoke a crisis at Channel 4, now recovering from the Jade Goody Big Brother storm. It had to make a rare public apology after the Independent Television Commission convicted previous programmes on environmental issues by the same film-maker, Martin Durkin, of similar offences - and is already facing questions on why it accepted another programme from him.

The commission found that the editing of interviews with four contributors to a series called Against Nature had "distorted or misrepresented their known views".

Professor Wunsch said: "I am angry because they completely misrepresented me. My views were distorted by the context in which they placed them. I was misled as to what it was going to be about. I was told about six months ago that this was to be a programme about how complicated it is to understand what is going on. If they had told me even the title of the programme, I would have absolutely refused to be on it. I am the one who has been swindled."

When told what the commission had found, he said: "That is what happened to me." He said he believes it is "an almost inescapable conclusion" that "if man adds excess CO2 to the atmosphere, the climate will warm".

He went on: "The movie was terrible propaganda. It is characteristic of propaganda that you take an area where there is legitimate dispute and you claim straight out that people who disagree with you are swindlers. That is what the film does in any area where some things are subject to argument."

Mr Durkin last night said that Professor Wunsch was "most certainly not duped into appearing into the programme" and that it "had not in any way misrepresented what he said".

Before the programme was shown, the IoS asked Channel 4 why it had commissioned another film from Mr Durkin and, further, whether it was making any special checks on its accuracy.

A spokesman said the programme made by Mr Durkin for which it had had to apologise was a decade old, adding: "We treat Martin as any other film-maker."

* David Cameron will tomorrow unveil three schemes to tax air travel in order to combat global warming. He is to consult on whether to impose VAT or fuel duty on domestic flights, institute a flight tax targeted at the most polluting engines, or to set up a "green miles scheme" to tax frequent flyers at a higher rate. The revenue raised would be used for tax cuts to help families.

What do most scientists believe caused global warming?

The vast majority are convinced it is human emissions of carbon dioxide. It was established scientifically 180 years ago - and has never been seriously disputed - that natural levels of the gas given off by decaying vegetation and the oceans help to keep the Earth warm; without it, and other natural greenhouse gases, the planet would be some 20C colder and we would freeze. Adding even the so far relatively small amounts from human activities makes us warmer.

Has the world warmed before?

Yes, and big warmings over prehistoric times were not started by increasing CO2 levels; changes in solar activity are more likely. Levels of the gas started rising some 800 years into the warming, but then probably reinforced it, making it bigger and longer. Temperature and CO2 are interdependent; when one goes up the other follows. This time it is different because vast amounts of the gas are being artificially put into the atmosphere by humans.

What about more recent history?

There was a warm period in Europe in the Middle Ages, again probably caused by solar activity, but it does not seem to have been a worldwide phenomenon, although records are scanty.

So is the sun responsible now?

Some sceptics say so and probably it played the major role until quite recently. But over the past three decades, solar activity has scarcely risen, while temperatures have shot up - a fact disguised in the film. What has gone up is CO2 and even top sceptic Nigel Lawson admits it is "highly likely" that the gas has "played a significant part" in global warming this century.

Of course it's both. It's just that denial of the human caused acceleration is what the BS is about. The other planets have increased in temperature in a way similar to earth - but that is NOT the end of it. It is more complicated than that.

We also know that human activities create a cooling effect with other pollutants, including increased reflection from contrails, chemtrails (which nobody admits), soot from charcoal fires, Sulfates from coal, etc. - over poorer parts of the world. This tends to cause a slowing in the temperature rise, which MASKS the effect of the CO2, but the CO2 is still there and WILL cause the rise if more sunlight gets to the ground to make heat.

Improvement in pollution control in the developed countries may be contributing to the more rapid rise that we have been seeing over the past couple of decades. If China ever manages to rein in their pollution (by far the worst air pollution in the world) then we are off to the races. Scientists are terribly worried that methane hydrates on the sea bottom will begin to warm and release methane which is much more effective as a greenhouse gas. As long as the Arctic Ocean is frozen, these will remain on the bottom, but if the water warms (and much of the Arctic Ocean is losing its ice cover) then huge amounts of this stuff will come bubbling up to the atmosphere. We could have a huge meltdown of ice-caps at a faster rate than anybody ever predicted. If that happens you will be able to buy oceanfront property in Memphis. However, I will admit that Florida would look better as a coral reef. It has been that in the past.

The thing that is really fascinating here is that there has been publicity lately that the oceanic shipping business releases twice the CO2 as the airline industry (although airlines also release H20 from burning which forms minute ice crystals to reflect sunlight back into space). If there are ever agreements to tax CO2 production - and there is a LOT of discussion about this in Europe - then the shippers are going to be hit by higher fuel prices (peak oil, you know) AND a carbon tax. Thus they either reduce their profit margin (which they won't) or charge more for goods produced by near-slave labor (50cents/day) in developing countries. Sooner or later it becomes too expensive to ship things and they have to move back to the USA where there are a lot of pissed off people who were jobjacked thanks to "free trade."

Thus you will get ONLY corporate denial. This was formerly spoken through their whores in congress that seem to be in the minority now. So the psychological operation has to go to the uneducated masses. So you get bad science purveyed by con-men.

Anyone not able to comprahend that the *driving force* behind the weather is that big fireball in the sky coupled with energies from similiar galactic-level forces is a complete and utter idiot, there just is no nice way of saying it.

Sure, we've been screwing around, making holes in the ozone layer by liberating gases that shouldn't be there in such concentrations, blowing holes in parts of the ionosphere to see what happens with some nifty toys and of course dumping CO2 and many other gases in a very unbalanced manner in the atmosphere. - tend to believe less people on this earth would be a good thing
- are willing to finance (and revamp) a whole industry, and thus capital gets concentrated even more where it's supposed to siphon into: the top, back in the industrial complex that caused the mess. And finally, primarily
- hate the US of A
which is the central issue we are being herded to from all sides. In case no one knows, the destabilisation of the US is the top priority of the Illuminated at the moment.

ok, i jumped the gun to early, the doco looks good and referenced, my mind is open to opinions and facts, I'm no fundy. I am an environmentalist and yeh, the global warming/greenhouse gas fear has been a great cause for change. The opposition leader here in Oz has just announced policy for a national green car. Its not about whether this film is right or wrong. When there is a global tax next year on pollution and global warming we must ask ourselves where that tax money is going. Just wanted to add that if you think for a second alternative fuels such as those used currently in Brazil will be any cheaper, you're dead wrong.
