The very news and information that you get from almost all sources of media has bundled together: 90% of the mainstream media is now controlled by just six companies, down from 50 different companies that were in control in 1983. It’s also worth noting that it’s not just what we watch, but also the products we buy as well… Here’s an article we published with a few excellent info-graphics showing all of the corporations that control what we buy and watch. Much of the news is actually fake and just invented anyway. I always say if you don't have personal knowledge of a story - you don't know if it's true at all or to what extent it's true. Practices like this corrupt the news and destroy the fragile trust people have in its system. If it doesn't disturb you to hear one source of stories being promoted endlessly, there's something wrong with you.

AP is an example of a news agency, as is Reuters. Do you think your local nightly news station actually has the staff and reporters to go out every day and work on stories like national gas prices?

You're on extreme deadline. There are local stories that you write, stories that your reporters put together and national stories that come from the wires. You don't always have the time nor care to reword these pieces. Laziness, short staffing and time constraints is why these stories are all read the same. There's only so many ways you can profesionally phrase certain things, anyway.
