If the moon were a mass being near the earth and in front of the sun . One would assume you would see the dark side before it ever crossed the path of the sun.

If they say the light illuminates the atmosphere so you cant see the moons dark side then you should also never see the bright moon in the day sky.

If they say well you cant see the dark space in the day , that is because space is not a mass blocking light.

If you can not see the dark side of the moon in the day hours , then you could have a massive planet right in front of you blocking the sun and never see it.

Anything that is near the earth and blocking any amount of light should be seen in the day sky.
