WASHINGTON -- Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, confessed to those and a string of other terrorism plots, including one in Washington state, during a military hearing at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a transcript released Wednesday by the Pentagon.

Buried on page 18 of the transcript is the claim that Mohammed's terrorists planned to hit a "Plaza Bank" in Washington state during the second wave of attacks after Sept. 11. The transcript gives no further details.

No Seattle bank went by that name before 2006. But in 2004, the Sept. 11 commission concluded that Mohammed had originally planned the attacks to include "the tallest buildings in California and Washington state." The Columbia Center in Seattle is the tallest building in Washington.

Looking down the elevator shaft, at all the concrete slab floors... and just trying to imagine HOW it could "pancake" down at free-fall speed (which would be about three seconds)... directly upon its footprint... and not leaving any "pancake" slabs of concrete, but instead "pulverizing" all the concrete into fine dust particles in the process...

How many floors of the skyscraper does the Bank occupy? Are you suggesting the plot was to fly planes into those specific floors? It is obvious "Plaza Bank" has been used to identify the tower, when in reality it doesn't appear to.

Sigma, your entire premis is based on the 9/11 commission's anticipation of the 'second wave of attacks' that never happened. A 9/11 commission selected by Rove to obfuscate and obliterate any questions that might (and have) been asked.

Or was this from someone who was relaring the story in understandible terms that said Plaza Bank so people would understand what was being talked about.

Let me give you an example. I'm from Detroit and one of the tallest buildings there is the Penobscot Building built in the late 20's. That's the name I grew up knowing and what I call the building by. I've now lived in Florida for a long time. If I made a reference of the Penobscot Building to a young Detroiter chances are they would not know what I'm talking about as it has been know by another name for quite some time (might be the Manufacturer's Bank building but I'm not sure).

So unless you know the EXACT quote of the mans testimony I think it rather presumptuous to make your topics claim.

Well there ya go - THE PLAZA BANK BUILDING Or did you not notice that either?

If you are familiar with the WTC towers construction you would know the following. The concrete used in the floors was not your usual concrete mix. It was a special "light" concrete mix. The construction of the towers was rather novel in some ways. The "light" concrete was necessary to stay within the load holding specifications of the stuctural steel that was supporting it.

This one fact in itself should be very telling. First of all "light" concrete would indeed be expected to be pulverized in the insueing disaster. Second of all this reflects the fact that the towers had a lot less "overbuilding" built into it then you have been lead to believe.

Some of the fire inspectors involved in the construction of the towers did not have kind things to say about the overall building methods used. They did not think the building safe from fire to the extent of say the Empire State building.

In case it escaped you, the point wasn't the Plaza Bank or the Sears Tower, or even the WTC, the point was the admission of targeting a facility that did not yet exist.
