It does suggest that arbitrary linguistic traits have an outsized influence on our thoughts and actions. the names people choose for their children vary from simple to complex, and that decision determines some of their outcomes later in life. this simple rule can apply to meaningless things like "north" and "south" you may think north is farther and takes longer to travel and south is closer, or if I'm going uphill I must be traveling north and If I'm going down hill I must be traveling south.
