The National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service suggests that the military could soon be escorting UK bound lorries in Calais, following a wave of fresh attacks on lorry drivers. Andrew Round, an intelligence officer for NaVCIS said: “If the violence seen over the last six to eight weeks persist, I’d like to see the military brought back in.” ..

The call was made after a Polish lorry driver was killed after hitting a roadblock setup by migrants. Nine Eritreans were arrested. On the 25th July, a lorry driver was seriously injured after being hit over the head with a brick by migrants who hijacked his vehicle..
