If you are trying to have an "Afro-centric" view you would go to Africa. Then you can be in a place where you never even see a White person. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 65061276 Half of South Africa is White, and North Africa is Caucasian. Blacks are a minority even in Africa ironically. Well not anymore, now that we bred them for reasons unknown. African is a huge continent- I'm sure there are many nations/areas where no Europeans are seen. |

This is quite racist. Trump was right to nominate Betsy Devos and she is right to put public schools in their place. What will they do with the really smart kids of the wrong color? Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72556752 Agreed. When the school board released this statement in response, "All students, regardless of race, must meet academic criteria to enroll in advanced level coursework," I knew that it meant they would be lowering their academic criteria requirements, just like the military did to advance more women who did not meet the physical requirements. |

Caucasian doesn't equal "Euro". |

Yes, it's horrible when they lessen requirements for any of these things. |

Now the College Board and school districts are recognizing that, and districts around the country are flipping access so that any student can choose to take an AP class — that’s the policy in both Los Angeles and Long Beach unified school districts. That's one of the reasons of the popularity of Ancestry.com. Skin color is not always an accurate way to categorize people. For example I have met blond haired, blue eyed, very fair skin men and women who were actually mixed race. Yes they were at least 1/4 Native American. Sometimes their full-blooded siblings looked completely different. Then you have situations where children actually have different parents and grandparents for various reasons than other family members. See where this gets complicated and even ridiculous? Are you going to make all students submit DNA tests to get into a mixed race category as opposed to Caucasian? Hollywood has called such actors and actresses "exoticals." Casting is one solely on the basis of looks rather than actual reality. Therefore 100% Caucasians (for several generations) have been cast as "exoticals" if they look different than most White people. |

If any student finds they can't deal with the advanced classes, they go back to regular classes. Also, my school offered to let students take college courses for a reduced fee. If you failed the college course you couldn't take another one based on the public school program. |

This is probably the worst thing one generation ever did to another in history. |

Why only intelligence being discounted, let's discount physical abilities too Quoting: zzcat Those destined for professional sports rise to the top anyways. When it comes to academics it gets more subjective as family background and lack of opportunity and cultural exposure play a role as well. The goal is to help those disadvantage student break through barriers while making the other races compete harder for those slots. Bullshit SJW speak. Subjective my ass, they are all in the same class, the same school. They've taken all of the "subjective" out of the school already. It's not about family values. Leave that social engineering shit at the door, asshole. |

Students rise to the challenge. I teach AP, and our district has shifted to open enrollment. I have more kids who are encouraged to excel in the class. It's a win-win... unless of course you hate public education, then it doesn't matter what we do, you'll always find fault. |

Also, at my school they eventually did not have enough Advanced classes to meet the demand because of English as a Second Language classes. Instead of cutting elsewhere, they cut Advanced Placement classes :/ |

Yes, I believe schools must give the opportunity to all students who want to procede, go to college, uni etc to achieve it, especially if they lack family support, funds etc. But they have to prove that they deserve it to be there, study hard etc. Ostria |

In one of our district schools we've been able to get our immigrant students into AP classes in their senior year, but we're happy to be able to get them there. Other students start as early as sophomore year and special programs in freshman year. We also have IB which is an awesome program. |

What we have these days is the collapse of a whole worldview, that they call the euro-centric worldview. They say it is mostly lie and fraud. IF it can all be cleaned up, so much "scholarship" will have to be re-performed. What a waste of time and brain power.
