Even if you don't believe in all of that stuff (much of which I don't) it's irresponsible to have children.

First off, the only motivation for having children is a selfish one. Ask anyone why they had kids, or why they wish to have them. I want someone to take care of me when I'm older. I want a sense of purpose. I want to be a mother. I want to be a father. Even I want someone to give my wealth to.

Find me one reason to have kids that doesn't start with "I want". You're filling some void/need/desire in your life, and you're dragging another human being, without their consent, into this shithole. It's one of the cruelest things you can do.

Just going by the numbers, the chances are they're going to be very unhappy. And that's just looking at the people living in the most prosperous, safest nations like most of us are. God forbid you look at the figures worldwide and realize someone making $10k a year is more well off than billions of people.

You raise your kid to get your little sense of fulfillment and get to brag to your friends about what a good little mommy or daddy you are, and then you kick their asses out. Fend for yourself, you say. Likely, your kid will spend his or her sad existence working to make someone else rich. Your kid will get married, and very likely have their heart broken and get divorced (but not before he/she brings another kid into the world).

It also doesn't matter how well you raised them. Your kid might lead a life of pure suffering as an addict. She might end up getting raped. Your child might grow up and start sucking dick for $20 a pop; every prostitute was somebody's baby. Maybe someone will murder your child in cold blood. Maybe he/she will die homeless. Maybe their last moment will be spent burning to death in a twisted car. There's no way you can prevent any of that suffering.

Even for those of us that have a 'good' life, better than 90% of the people on this planet, hardly anyone can say they're truly happy. Life still sucks. You work your ass off barely scraping by, then get cancer or have a heart attack or stroke out and die. Then your kids do the same. And then their kids. Fuck. That.
