On many of the mentioned inventions it is not decades, it is a century. That could mean that perfection has been reached and there is no better way to create power, etc.

"New" or just different modifications of existing products? Is there a "new" power source? "New" propulsion system? "New" anti gravity?

Making a transistor smaller doesnt make it a "new" idea. That is all a smartphone is, smaller transistors for smaller CPUs.

Wow, that might explain it alright. Maybe they do have anti gravity in places like Area 51 but decided that they cannot control the public if they get it. Something just seems odd that nothing new has come out for so long.

2020 should be fun :) lots of patents finally being released. I heard that most of the really intense new tech was all put on hold until we hit a more logical, and "futuristic" year. 2020 would make sense if we had a big technology shift. Doing anything too wild before a goofy year like that could give people culture shock.

Education peaked in 1970 in the U.S. and has been on general decline ever since. Blacks then fueled lower levels of learning (no I.Q. tests) and continue to do so. Nicola Tesla had so much to offer but people stealing from him basically cut us out to his future inventions. Obama era education standards guarantee lower levels of student learning for years to come.

I don't think my computer today is that much better really than an Amiga 3000 I had 30 years ago. Loads more RAM and CPU power etc but there isn't that much difference to using it.

Cellphones certainly are different today with touchscreens. It just takes 5-10 years to cross the deathvalley from research to retail.

I work in research and in 5-7 years we will have lots of functional materials (e.g. self-healing, self-cleaning, self-monitoring), wearable/weavable electronics, energy harvesting to power small electronics (body heat, motion, ambient electromagnetic fields, artificial light), and so on. It's all halfway to retail already.

Or are you talking about paradigm shifting new? Like the internet? The internet-of-things is coming next.

Great but these things often collapse in testing and never become widespread technology. That University will play around with it for 20 years and then decide it is not worth using.

Tesla conceived and invented A/C power by himself in less than 3 years before 1900. We are still using his invention and power grid in 2017.

"Halfway" and most of that is just miniaturizing transistors. Transistors are not new, "Solid State" has been a selling feature since the 50s.

The "internet" is simply a linked connection of millions of CPUs. CPUs are simply a collection of transistors and are not new.

Tesla mainly worked on his own with his own original ideas. Maybe a Tesla brain only occurs once every century or less. Read the historical novel "Tesla" by Tad Wise. Tesla invented many of the products and ideas that others ended up getting credit for.

There was the fart-filter for in mens underpants that was invented last year.
