So you analysed tens of thousands of innovations for novelty in just a few hours.
You must be a genius.

...

We have machines now that we can not only talk to but they talk back.
We have self-cleaning surfaces.
We can create new lifeforms.
The world has changed drastically since 1990, you just didn't notice because you weren't actually paying attention.

I looked at your link, it says 25 inventions from last year?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76695676

It says: "About 233.000.000 results (0,38 seconds)"

Also, OP is referencing BIG things. Power plants, combustion engines in every vehicle, etc. You are counting gimmicks or extremely rare things. Read the thread, people are asking for anti gravity, ion engines, things that actually replace 100 year old tech, not just rehash it.

But there are plenty of things that we can do now that nobody could do in 1918.
Or do you think the internet is merely an electrified library?

You must look at the CORE of the "invention." The CORE of the internet is the microchip. The same microchip developed in the 50s.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76695676

That's nonsense.
You could have an internet based on mechanical calculators and telegraphs.
The core idea of the internet is to combine telecom networks with information processing devices.
That was a new and world-changing idea.

And since the internet came about a zillion software packages have been invented to utilise the new possibilities.

How incredibly jaded must one be to live in a world with self-driving cars and reusable spacecraft and smart materials and self-cleaning toilets to claim that there is no inventiveness.
