What do you think about these views?

If you were cut from all tradition, what would you choose for your family?

Is it even important?

Was there an north ameridian tribe with an approach similar to the zoroastrians?

I'd like a Hawaiian send off. BIG beach party, food, music and loads of flowers. And if you get cremated, they put your ashes in a gourd and everyone paddles out to send you floating out to sea.

Beautiful.

Like lots of things from this (your?) people.

What do they do if the weather is a bit rough?

Reschedule. Most people these days get cremated. Not much room for more cemeteries on an island.

I mean in ancient times (before freezers).

Japanese influence?

Christian cemetaries? Can be buried on your property/public land?

Hawaiians traditionally would first cook the meat off the bones which would then be either buried or hidden in a cave.

Thanks for the answer.

One last question if I may. Were certain caves only for special people?

I believe so. I've just been reading about Hawaiian burials lately while researching my husband's genealogy. Apparently there is at least one High Chief hidden in a cave in the cliff behind our house. Kamehameha was said to be hidden in an undersea cave. However, there is also a rumor that he too is hidden in a cliff cave here in Haena, above the heiau (temple) of Ku.
