Bayous and waterways overflowing from torrential rains. TWC and National weather service use computer models and there are various paths it shows the tropical system can take. Per one of those, Houston could see 84 inches of rain between this past Friday until next Friday morning if the storm takes that one path. You never know until you see what it will do. I couldn't imagine what 84 inches of rain would be like for a city that has problems with 4 to 5 inches of rain. Prayers for Houston. |

I am from Houston and I was trapped in Allison in a high rise apartment near the Galleria when Allison happened. It was surreal. This is set to exceed TS Allison though. I still live in Houston in the memorial area. My children and I fled to Dallas at 1am Friday though. My husband is still in Houston at our house. He is saying it's pretty wild there tonight. It's been a wild night for sure. It's sprinkling now after a little gap in the weather. We're in the Memorial Thicket area. All is draining off nicely where we are just north of Memorial off of Eldrige. It piles up during the downpours, drains off fast when it slacks up. I hope your home and hubby stay safe. As long as he is off the roads, he should be fine. |

Hobby Airport just shut down because runways are covered with water and it's a record for them. Per Twitter and TWC. That's horrible. Hobby is on the east side of Houston and my house is on the west side. Still, it looks like the whole city is going to be underwater by sunrise. : / The city has got to do something about this flooding issue. Developers keep building tons of buildings and that displaces the water and it's flooding homes that have never flooded before. Developers need to be FORCED to pay for flood control out of their own pockets since their developments are causing this crap. Houston has alway flooded in some areas but not of all it did and it's gotten a lot worse in recent years because of all the developments. |
