Yessiree, it’s Trickle-Down Vista, or maybe iTrickle-Down 10, the same old Reaganite tax cuts for the already prosperous, wrapped up in a slightly new package of economic nationalism that really is nothing but some “America First” glitter on top of the stuff that hasn’t ever created economic expansion, because when you give the rich more money, they invest it in the markets, not in creating jobs. And while CEOs surely appreciate having more money, there are only so many luxury cars and yachts the poor dears can buy, after all.

Trump didn't give any details of “his” plan today; instead, he’ll leave it up to Republicans in Congress, just like he did with “his” healthcare plan, only there may be more Republican agreement on cutting taxes than there was on slashing Medicaid. White House officials who previewed the speech for the Wall Street Journal promised Trump would wrap up the usual help for the top tenth of the One Percent in happy blather for working-class rubes.

It’s still not entirely clear why Donald Trump was giving a speech in Missouri. He had initially visited Corpus Christi, which is three hours away from the floods in Houston, so he could say that he made a visit to Texas amid the Hurricane Harvey disaster. But he stopped in Missouri on the way back, and he gave a speech which served no recognizable purpose. He was supposed to be promoting tax cuts, but he instead quickly went off the rails with an attack on Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill.

Trump gave a largely nebulous speech in Missouri ostensibly about tax reform. To the surprise of exactly no one, it turned into a rambling affair complete with shoutouts to Ivanka, a call for Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill to be “voted out of office,” a warning to Congress that he “doesn’t want to be disappointed”, and also a plug for his red #MAGA hats (seriously).

I'll go out on a limb now and state that Trump/Congress won't give ANY tax break(s) to ANYONE making less than $250,000 a year. In FACT, I'll state that we'll likely see a tax INCREASE .
