I started checking these traffic cameras on Tuesday night. That was the day the rain stopped.

The roads then look exactly as they do now, except with less traffic.

I checked out almost every traffic camera.

There were maybe 2 or 3 roads that showed signs of flooding out of probably more than a hundred.

Which one has the flood? They seem okay, the ones I viewed.

Where's the water?

I think that the Rockport area and all those impacted by landfall of Harvey were devastated. I think there was probably severe loss of life and infrastructure and homes.

But, it got scant attention as the very next day, it was all Houston, all the time.

A bait and switch, too by the media, as well.

Not sure what the point is, but yes it flooded bad in many areas. Some not as much. My house was high and dry the whole time, but I know others just down the road that were flooded.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49770329

Well, that's weird. Did you get 50 inches of rain at YOUR house? Because the radars "showed" that much fell but...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72325042

My house got 34 inches in 24 hours. 44 through the event.

I did rain. A lot.

You must have heard the "conspiracy theory" that there is fake news out there, right?

Maybe you never really considered the magnitude of the fake news, like it's ALL fake.

Why do they do it? Maybe to entertain the masses. Everyone likes doom, as long as it is not their own.

Maybe to make people feel grateful. Maybe to make money in so many different ways.

Maybe to make people feel like it's a real world, inhabited as it has always been, and real shit is happening.

Maybe to always control the narrative, the information flow, to keep people under control.

Let's think what was accomplished emotionally with this little story.

Well, he narrative is that Americans are good.

Americans help each other.

Everyone is the same under the skin. We're all human after all. Tamps down the raging race baiting that's been going on.

Makes ANTIFA look bad.

Makes Trump look good and Presidential.

Who came out of this looking really bad? The far Left, black, Democratic Mayor.

The whole narrative there is calculated to make blacks, liberals, Democrats, etc. etc. seem incompetent and dishonest.

More mud slung on ANTIFA.

You notice that many Washington liberals are now distancing themselves from ANTIFA who never did before.

Could be to discourage illegals from entering through Texas, if there actually ARE any illegals.

Could be to discourage drug transport through Texas temporarily. Or to at least make it seem like this could be a reason why certain drugs are not available.

I don't know when these images were "taken", but they are in no way reflective of nearly 5 feet of rainfall.

This looks like a normal flood in low-lying areas from the relatively normal extreme of maybe 6 to 8 inches of rainfall.
It has flooded worse with 9 inches of rain. You have to factor in what the storyline is.
That a record 5 feet of rain fell on this and the surrounding areas in about a 200 mile radius in all directions. That's the difference. No credible evidence anywhere of that amount of rain having fallen.
Period.

Because unless you have some expertise in floods, hydrology and the like, I say you are full of shit like the OP.

We had 35" in my back yard here in Spring, Texas, which is just North of the City of Houston proper -- and the closest Creek to us, Cypress Creek, crested at 113+' -- a record by more than 3 feet. They were driving speed boats down Cypresswood drive, which parallels the creek, at 30 mph just a few days ago. I was there... I witnessed it. It is now down now to 103' -- [link to www.harriscountyfws.org (secure)] -- which puts it just above the bank.

Some parts, closer to the gulf, had 50+ inches and other areas only had 20 or so inches (only).

Believe me when I say that it was the same on Tuesday, the day that it stopped raining.

There actually was a couple of roads where you could see flooding, but that was out of hundreds.

And obviously, from other flood pictures of the past 2 years in Houston, it floods easily and frequently.

The story is a lie.

How many times have they shown the exact same pictures and videos over and over?

The place where the houses are deeply flooded was caused by them....the photo op set up.

We'll release the reservoir water into this neighborhood...

They even said that's what was going on.

They kept saying over and over that it was going to rain until Wednesday and most said Thursday. That the entire thing was far from over and then on Tuesday the SUN CAME OUT and they called it a day.

Think about the ridiculous picture of the nursing home residents sitting in water up to their waist.

One woman was actually KNITTING ....SHE WAS KNITTING......

HILARIOUS.........BWAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH

Old people can have a complete break down if you threaten to give them a bath. Screaming...crying...hysteria.

Old people become unglued if the phone rings.

Can you imagine a room full of old biddies calming sitting in
3 feet of water knitting?

I know this, the Ride Side News guy was looking for days for people's uploads and live streams of the floods where they are, and he never found any that I saw that were more than street flooding.

If there were individuals who had experienced this phenomenal flooding event, they never put any video of it happening.

They tell me for days it got 4 and 5 FEET of rain, and nobody had anything but flooded streets to show for it!

We have a few streets in our town that flood when we get 2" of rain. We had a serious flood issue when we had 6" of rain fall in two days.
I live in an area of terrain and elevation very much like Houston only we are closer to the coast. And if we got that many feet of rainfall in a week, the whole county, the ENTIRE county, would be under at minimum 5 feet of water in the "higher elevations" meaning equal to the amount that fell, but areas of lowland that hold water anyway and near rivers it would be much, much higher flood waters. Like around 13' or more. I am seriously doubting that there was anything like four and half feet of rainfall in the whole Houston greater metro areas and down to the coast. There is no evidence for it in any of these live cams.
