How to check if your info was compromised in the Equifax hack

Called the number - asked for supervisor - they can not give info on phone and will not give a phone number to call for inquiry if you have been compromised.

I would think that there would be some sort of legal recourse against the company heads who sold all their stock for millions before announcing the big ooops.

All these credit reporting agencies need to be taken down. I didn't give these fuckers permission to gather and store all my private info, did you? It's unconstitutional and as we can now see detrimental to society.

Why would anyone enter their name and partial SS# into a site/database whose company was hacked? Why would you TRUST them? USE YOUR BRAINS FOR CRISSAKE. You will have legal recourse should the worst happen.

Exactly - and now WE have to jump through how many hoops to find out if there is even a way to repair the damage they have done to US? OK "something's not quite right!".

This is way more serious than it appears at initial reading.

Hell, if the "hackers" got ALL your personal information already, then entering your last name and last 6 of your SSN shouldn't compromise you further IN THAT RESPECT.

Equifax's headquarters in Atlanta is VERY close to where that part of the highway collapsed. What if when they closed everything off and rebuilt the highway, someone just happened to "tap" into the fiber cables serving equifax (and possibly others). I think they re-opened the highway around May, and they said Equifax discovered the hack in July. It's easy to conceive that's a perfect time to tap into a company's commputers when the ground is being dug up, and it's also very possible it took the company a couple months to figure it out!

Just like 9/11 all over again..

So this is the second time my information has been hacked. I've been compromised with Equifax and as a former U.S. government employee I was compromised by a hack back in June of 2015, I was given free credit protection then. The likely hood of using my information is low, because I have a very common English surname, less than 5,000 people in all of USA have the same surname.
