Another observation when using the Amazon app.

Once opening the product page, if I click on the number that represents the quantity of reviews next to the overall star rating, it directs me to a page that displays the top reviews.

17 of the first 20 are 5 star
2 are 3 star
1 is 1 star

The five star reviews say around 20 people found them helpful.
The one star review says over 1k found it helpful.

These obviously do not match the ratios of the reviews given by rating.
The displayed reviews are undoubtedly tampered with and cannot be explained on an algorithm.
