The Power of Crypto
A few minutes ago, I saw this message posted in another thread (minus the contact info):

"Guys, I am away from home, all I have here is my BTC wallet card :) would anyone care to send me as little as 0.02 BTC just to survive 2 days? In description please add your e-mail address so I can contact you and send you back as quick as I reach my home! I can pay you twice as much, money isnt issue for me and the amount ain't that much :) I am just a simple honest IT guy from the northern of Poland. Completely forgot my credit cards... On Sunday I'll be home and I can contact you and pay back."

So, I emailed asking a question about location. I felt I could discern from his answer whether or not his story was/is true.
He immediately replied with more than enough information to convince me. It still requires trust in regard to being paid back, but the amount is low enough for me to be willing to risk it.

How often are we asked to give to so-called "legitimate" organizations, without ever knowing what happens to the money after it leaves our hand? Who actually benefits?

How often is it as easy as sending BTC? Never.

Crypto is powerful in the fact that within minutes, someone in need was provided for by someone in a completely different country directly, with no go-betweens. This is the new technology.

I didn't need any charity or organization. No waiting for bank wire transfers, snail mail, etc. . . The power of this currency is part of human evolution. I am honored to be a part of it.

Could be. Time will tell. I think I actually made a cool new friend.

But I guarantee you didn't make a friend.

Most people are so afraid of being stolen from, but they sign up for every dumb thing under the sun. . . giving away the most precious things of all: freedom and identity.

You are very naive.
....which is why those scams work.....people like you x 1000 or 10,000 and the spam money adds up.

Maybe he did. And maybe it was spammy.

But, it doesn't change the fact of the efficacy of crypto. If he had been a family member and I knew for sure it wasn't spam - that family member would have been taken care of immediately, thanks to decentralization.

And, I knew the area he claimed to be in and the details were correct. We'll see.

Re: The Power of Crypto
Guys, please listen to me. My car ran out of gas. I'm at the gas station but I left my wallet home.

Could somebody please send 0.02 Bitcoin. I'll give you double back as soon as I'm back home. Money is not an issue. I bought plenty of Bitcoin between $50 and $100.

I can't go home and I'm feeling tired, had a rough day. Please help me.

Ugh. Why are you so lame? It doesn't help anyone - especially you. By the way, my new friend got his money, and into a hotel for the night. I'm happy. He's happy. What are you?

.024, actually.

Okay, well. . . I know of one other decentralized "currency" in this world. It's called prayer. I have come to know the God that answers prayer and honors justice and mercy.

So. . . God, whose words are true, I ask that, from this day forward you would be as generous to "Useless Cookie" as he is to the poor. So be it.

And that includes the gift of a good word. :-) God bless.

I didn't mean this thread to derail so badly. The animosity was unexpected. I just meant to point out that the modern "red tape" has made giving so difficult. Alt coins will likely be wrapped in red tape eventually as well. But today. . . today I could give directly, clear across the world, and that was satisfying.

You've got to understand OP that these anti-crypto people are getting as bad as a pack of Antifa Libtards at a Trump rally.

They don't do any research on cryptos. They just KNOW that they are a scam.

It really is pathetic.

Sorry you got attacked but that is the new norm around here with anything Crypto.

Re: The Power of Crypto
Thanks, guys. I'm glad to hear a positive word!

I'm sure I will get it back. He emailed me after he got the cash. If he was a fake, I wouldn't hear from him again.

I can't imagine getting to the end of my life and regretting giving to the "wrong" people. I can imagine getting to the end and regretting having stored it all up "under the bed."
