Here, if you earn more than around the $87000 mark, you get hit hard.

$1 – $18,200 Nil 0%
$18,201 – $37,000 19c for each $1 over $18,200 0 – 9.65%

Yes, much better - higher IQ, better educated, better at dealing with people and working with them to get things done, better at speeches, conducting meetings, better at socializing, less lazy, less of a procrastinator, more organized, I could go on and on.

There is NO CEO on this PLANET deserves almost 400X the average workers pay a year!

It is beyond insane! It is PURE GREED!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13127957

Let me ask you something OP - who do you think pays the lions share of the taxes?
those who make under $65k or those who make over??

If you have more than 7.62 brain cells you would answer those who make over.
So tell me, if everyone was limited to $65k per year, the government would have to jack taxes up to 137.6% because you know that Congress NEEDS that money!!!

What is the point in your rant here? Are you one of those people who can't stand to see others who have worked hard to get somewhere?
Are you a proponent of guaranteed living wage?

What's your beef?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75452281

The POINT I am trying to make here that is I can survive on less than $65-70K a year, then so can EVERYONE ELSE ON THIS PLANET!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13127957

Sure.
And my wife and I survived on under $20k. Lots of people here are stating they can survive on much less.
YOU GREEDY BASTARD!!! How dare you make $56k!!!!!

Do you understand how stupid you sound?

You can survive on almost anything, as long as you understand the difference between want and need. If you do, there's always a little bit lefter over for stuff you want.

Think of all these people earning TRIPLE or more your salary.

CEO's earning MILLIONS a year, etc.

Do you really think they are better then the average human being on this planet?

It depends on where you live not how much your household income is, 60k in NYC would be tough without assistance i.e. affordable housing, but in upstate NY you'll have a surplus at the end of the month. your choice.

Is the point of working your life away just to "survive"?

I would love to do the Graduation speech for a graduating class of high school or college kids.

the world is NOT your oyster.
You CANNOT do whatever you want.
You WON'T succeed. At least 98% of you.
You will end up in a job working your life away, handing over the majority of your income to the government in one form of tax, license, fee, permit or another and if you are fortunate you will just have enough to survive.

Imagine how much better everyone would be if the govt would just fuk off.
But OP here thinks that if you make more than $65k you are a greedy SOB.

Perhaps some of us want to do more than just survive. Some of us want to help our kids out. Some of us worked our tails off for 45 years.
I would bet I've worked more hours and done more hard work than most people twice my age. And it isn't for the love of money. It was to pay the bills. Now that the business has taken off, I should cut back and only make $65k otherwise I'm greedy.
I don't think so. I spent a lot of time, sweat, blood and energy invested in this to do more than just survive.

I make about half of that amount and if material wealth was all life had to offer it would be hard and probably embarrassing. Thanks goodness this journey is about who you are. My pension and SS are under $41,000 a year.

However, My wife's numbers are better.

Pension + Social around $44,000 a year.

Since we paid all our bills, we have no debt and are wealthy by any measure.

The most I earned was just over 50,000 a year for a few years when the OT was good.
We bought our home in 1980 for just 45,000. We paid it off early and are coming up on our 40th anniversary and those are big keys regarding our situation.
STAY MARRIED.
We live in a reasonably priced area.

Its complicated.
My $41,000 sounds marginal but that's a long way from the full picture.

Hell, I am going to go out on a limb here and tell you all my expenses:

Electricity - 400.00 a month.

Car Insurance (3 vehicles full coverage) 350.00 a month.

Food Costs $ 300.00 a month.

House payment $ 450.00 a month.

House Insurance $160.00 a Month.

Medical Expenses $200.00 a month.

Car Payments $400.00 a month for 2 vehicles

Misc expenses $200.00 a month.

Medical Insurance $200.00 a month family coverage.

It takes every single penny me and my wife earn paying those expenses, and I we are living paycheck to paycheck. My wife earns maybe 1/2th of my income.

I didn't include other expenses such as clothing expences, cellphones, etc.

That's state and federal + property taxes on two properties.
There are more taxes like gas taxes but no sales tax here.

I think I can safely say we're under 20% taxation.

You used one keyword most don't do - budgeting. If you don't have a simple budget no matter how much you take home you will always be behind. A budget can help pay off debt and create savings, you just have to focus and not spend dumbly.
