He said he managed to escape the initial horrific scenes inside the hotel but found himself forced to hide in a bush for several hours after the event.

“I got outside safely and was hiding in bushes,” Mr Hodge said.

“There were multiple people dead and multiple shooters. I was just hiding waiting for police to come get us.

“We were hiding in the bushes outside waiting for the police.” Mr Hodge said he was staying in room 32134 while the gunman was in room 32135.

“It was a machine gun from the room next to me,” he said.

“My floor is a crime scene. They killed a security guard on my floor.”

The big question is did he break the window first and then start shooting or shoot to break the window?

The reason why this is important is it will tell you if he is trained or not, if you shoot the window then break the glass out people would be fleeing in from the first shot(s) (in theory), toughened / laminated glass used in these buildings is not easy to break and remove. If you plan to kill as many people as you can and you spend 30 seconds pulling chunks of laminated glass out the way that's a long time for people to get running out of range.

I would expect somebody that's trained to fire 2-3 rounds and make a small hole with the rifle and shoot and make hole bigger as required but I am guessing...

Any military guys want to chime in on this,

Everyone wondering how the guns came in, it could be from laundry, house keeping maids etc, they have carts and laundry holder for sheets, towels etc. In other words this was planned why head of time.

I seems to be professional.

He only lived an hour away. Was likely making day trips home over the course of his 4-day stay and duffle bagging it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74506383

Don't the maids come in to clean every day? So how could he hide anything in that room?
 Quoting: Cool Cayenne

It's not mandatory. Put a tag on the door and the don't enter. I read earlier that maids had been in the room and didn't notice anything weird, but don't have a citation and could be misinfo. If everything is in a few bags and the platform is stuffed under the bed, they aren't noticing anything regardless.

Agree, the Vista Suite at the MB has to be booked months ahead of time apparently. Probably not anything you can walk in and upgrade on a big concert weekend like that, but he was a high roller and may have invoked privilege.

I have a platinum mlife card.. I am a medium roller but I know Vegas well and stayed a Mandalay many many times. This was planned in advance. Greasing the right wheels last minute can get you upgrades but this would of been a special request. So I can verify what you say is true that Vista needs to be booked in advance. Especially high floor strip view.

Hotels have at least 2 cameras on every section of hallway. If anyone exited his room during the incident, they haven't come out and said that. I honestly don't understand why they would hide this aside from forensic identification and stealth arrest, which is admittedly a reach.

Otherwise we know he shot a security guard that approached the room during the incident and he was the only person in the room at the breach. If there were other people in the room I don't really think you could keep an entire squad of officers quiet about it.

I really get the feeling this guy was a generational asset. Like born into the system. How does he have enough money to gamble.. live without real employment for years and year.. plus have an FBI wanted father.. and have basically no friends and doesn't talk with family. Also his wife's facebook going down so fast and then none of her friends talking also speaks to some sort of "know to keep your mouth shut".

This sounds more likely. No way he
could've pulled this off without plenty
of support and coordination.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75096133

How do you figure he couldn't have pulled it off alone? All he had to was make several trips up to his room with his suitcases full of guns then bust out a couple of windows and start shooting. Its not like it took a lot of planning and coordination. I've planned weekend trips that were much more complicated.

Re: Accounts from the guy next door.. multiple shooters and security killed on floor 32.
Guests buy things while they are staying at hotels. Especially in Vegas where there are many types of stores. Luxury goods often come in huge boxes (as in bigger than needed for the item itself). I doubt it was done this way, but I am saying, hotel staff is used to see even short stay guests bringing in lots of things.

But, if his roommate worked there, it would be pretty easy. He could just keep things stowed until needed. The video example of a double king suite shows a lot of room/places to put things. They're probably used to anyone booking it having a lot of luggage.

I am referencing the guy they're pinning this on because IDK who did it. But, I think, even if there was only one person shooting that doesn't mean he didn't have accomplices.

Also, since there was a country music fest, one could pretend to be part of it somehow. Not as a famous act, obviously.

I heard that too but wasn't sure of source. Believable though if he had everything stowed away in a few bags. The maids are just going through their routine and wouldn't identify anything unless left out in the open. He could have easily staged within an hour presuming he prepped the firearms and magazines at his house, which makes the most sense.

Maybe the police only saw one guy. Accomplices could be before the fact. So, if the police saw them, they weren't doing anything obviously illegal at the time. But, if such exist, may the police find them.
