Several rockets were allegedly fired into Israeli territory from Damascus this morning, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said moments ago.

According to the IDF, pro-Iranian fighters, working with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Quds Force, fired the rockets into the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights region.

No further details were released.

A source from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) denied these claims, saying that no such attack was carried out from Damascus.

In the past, the Israeli Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory attacks against the Syrian Arab Army, even if they were not responsible for the strikes.

Russian Su-35 jets allegedly prevented Israeli airstrikes on Syria

BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 P.M.) – The presence of Russia’s Su-35 jets allegedly prevented the Israeli Air Force from conducting airstrikes over southern Syria on Monday, the Russian aviation publication Avia.Pro reported.

According to the Avia.Pro report, the Russian Su-35S jets were urgently deployed to southern Syria to intercept an Israeli aircraft and prevent any strikes inside this region.

The aviation publication said the Israeli Air Force was preparing to launch airstrikes over southern Syria in response to an alleged rocket attack that was conducted by the Iranian-backed forces in Damascus.

“According to preliminary data, Russian fighters were able to prevent Israeli planes from striking southern Syria in response to an alleged rocket attack on Israeli territory,” the publication reported.

“It is known that a few hours before the Syrian air defense systems were put on full alert in order to repel Israeli missile attacks, it was obviously the Russian Su-35s that were able to prevent the Israeli aircraft from carrying out the attack,” they said.

Avia.Pro said this is not the first time that the Russian military was able to impede, as a previous incident was reported last month.

On Monday, an Iraqi paramilitary encampment in the Syrian city of Albukamal was attacked by an unknown aircraft.

While some claims state that up to 18 fighters were killed, Hezbollah has denied reports and accused the U.S. and Israel of carrying out the strikes.

Neither the U.S. nor Israel have commented on these accusations.

The Russian Armed Forces have allegedly given the Syrian military the green light to use their S-300 system against Israeli warplanes that enter their airspace, the Russian aviation publication Avia.Pro reported.

“Against the background of how Israel was repeatedly seen striking at Syria despite the previously reached agreements between Russia and Israel, a source told Avia.pro that the Syrian military received permission to use its air defense systems in case of the slightest threat from Israel, provided that the Syrian side bears responsibility for such actions,” Avia.Pro said. 

Despite completing the installation of their S-300 batteries in the Masyaf area of Hama this year, the Syrian Armed Forces have yet to use these air defense systems against the Israeli warplanes that have repeatedly bombed the country.

However, based on what Avia.Pro has reported, the Syrian Armed Forces appear to be reliant on the Russian military to use these air defense systems against the Israeli Air Force jets that violate their airspace.

“Russia allowed the Syrian military to put the S-300 on full alert and attack Israeli aircraft in the event of the slightest threat,” a military source told Avia.Pro. 

The effectiveness of the S-300 against the Israeli Air Force has been in question since its installation, as the latter has carried out attacks as far east as the Deir Ezzor Governorate and as far north as Aleppo.
