The takers know the system. Can't remember who ahowed the figures here in Texas. A family of 4 on benefits had more disposable income than a family of 4 making $64,000.

First of course you get food stamps. And for any with kids this is fairly easy. If you qualify for SNAP you will also qualify for subsidized housing. A 2 bedroom townhouse can be had for next to nothing based on income. No income = no rent payment. Also you qualify for free medical with low/no earned income. Next it's Goodwill etc etc etc for clothing and such. And food shelves/churches to fill in a bit.

The sad thing is many get used to this life style where they are warm clothed and fed and of course a tv takes care of entertainment and in many states a government free phone does the rest.

This is a better living then most third world countries so its no wonder they cross our borders in large numbers.

As a nation we do take care of our poor but is this truly the path to go down???

I had to get a few estimates on a simple gas line plumbing job. They want $3,000 to install a gas line. The cost of shit is getting out of hand. It's 20' with 5 drops. It's in the attic space but it's open new construction. I think $3,000 Is a bit steep, but you have to have a licensed plumber to do the work. Then pay the city for a permit. It's just goofy all of the regulations. If you could FIT you could save a shit ton of money.
