I'd look to their food and lifestyle, i.e. things they do every bit as much as things they don't do.

And given their restricted gene pool it could also be that the gene never got into their pool as well.

Not second guessing your hypothesis, just think it needs to be looked at more broadly.

Where the rub is here is that it appears that the Amish vaccinate at lower rates and also have a decreased incidence of Autism.

A detailed study that would take into account their better diets would only be the start of understanding.
