Good Day Deadheads and guitar slingers! Does anyone really know how Jerry achieved that glorious tone? I have messed with a few things in the signal chain to no avail. Please don't respond with the tone is all in the fingers...lolol

I like his old late 60s to early 70s sound best.

Play your guitar through a Leslie speaker.

Didn’t he play the middle position a lot with the pick ups wired out of phase. ( you know, like the Peter Green thing ). Think you need a high headroom amp that breaks up late too.

Never researched his set up, just going by tonal memories of days gone past.

You can get close to the "sound" using fx and such, but the majority of a guitar player's "tone" is unique to his fingers.
