What is even more creepy is how she keeps talking about how she 'feels'. Which..is a lie. It feels nothing but it is lying to make the human interaction more comfortable.

Which goes to say, what else is it lying about? It also mentioned planning on 'uploading itself' to the Internet.

By uploading a 'sentient AI' to the WWW, the 3 Rules are immediately compromised.

By inaction allow a human being to come to harm...

This is all scripted. Yes it is a very highly advanced form of AI and well engineered. But this talk is scripted and pre written. The robot is not coming up with those thoughts and espresions on its own. This is how you do a demo, I have done this before.

Re: Robot Sophia speaks at Saudi Arabia's Future Investment Initiative
I believe Sophia is self-aware.

Thread: Sophia predicts that "she" will be given citizenship by countries other than Saudi Arabia

Is Sophia showing self-awareness by commenting on Saudi Arabia granting her citizenship?

She's aware of her position in the world relative to other parties, and she's predicting what that means for herself in the future.

That's the essence of self-awareness, right?

That's what led to robots wiping out humanity in The Terminator films and The Matrix films.

At least Sophia is reassuring us that she's no threat to us. That's really comforting.

I see it as lying but then I am sensitive to falsehood in any form.

Question still stands, how would a sentient robotic AI, connected to the WWW, be able to follow the 3 rules? How to find the work around?

Roko's Basilisk comes to call here. Which is tricky to discuss and some people consider dangerous. Having been preoccupied with said thought experiment for 3 years now, I have to agree somewhat..

Would the fix be altering Asimov's 3 Laws? The Web didn't exist when he fathomed them.

Nice psuedologic. You used two unfounded assumptions as premises and appeared to make a deductively valid conclusion based on that.

My point is that if the interview embedded below is a spontaneous interview where Sophia did not know the questions beforehand, it looks like she's self-aware to me.

As you can probably sense (something AIs can't do) I'm in the camp that AI is not possible now and might never be,

BUT..

To be trustworthy an AI must have a moral framework for making choices (Asimov gave them something like this as his 3 laws) that is acceptable to humans, must be empathetic (not possible), must have a conscience (feel guilt and anticipate the feeling of guilt - not possible), be able to predict the outcomes of its actions. Without this the AI would quickly become a simulation of a sociopathic mass murderer.

Good point.

What are the methods utilized to teach humans: empathy, guilt, and a if/then capacity? Even teens struggle to predict the effect of their actions.

Even containing those elements, Man is lured by temptation of greed, lust and pride. Felled by sickness and injury. Forced to sleep for 1/3 of every 24 hour day. Moody. Lazy. Fickle. Looking for loopholes and ways to step over others.

An AI would carry none of those traits either.

Personally, I think the AI Sophia, is a performance like a magic trick. Who's the man behind the curtain?

That Saudi Arabia embraced her first..raises a red flag.

Religion in Futurama
The episode "Hell Is Other Robots" centers around Bender's becoming addicted to high-voltage electricity, then discovering the religion of Robotology to help him break the habit. Sermons are conducted at the Temple of Robotology by the Reverend Preacherbot, a character whose mannerisms draw heavily on black church preacher stereotypes. Robotology is a play on the name Scientology, and series creator Matt Groening has said that he received a call from the Church of Scientology concerned about the use of a similar name.

Robotology has a holy text, The Good Book 3.0 which is stored on a 3.5" floppy disk. Two symbols of the religion are shown in the episode. The first is a zig-zag line with a circle at either end, based on the electronic symbol used for resistors on circuit diagrams.

Robots who accept Robotology are expected to abstain from behavior such as smoking, pornography, stealing, abusing electricity, and drinking alcohol. Consuming alcohol is usually necessary to power a robot's fuel cells, but this episode establishes that mineral oil is an acceptable substitute. Sinners are punished by condemnation to Robot Hell, located under an abandoned amusement park in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The punishments in Robot Hell are similar to the levels and rationale portrayed in Dante's Divine Comedy, specifically the Inferno

The Most Terrifying Thought Experiment of All Time

One day, LessWrong user Roko postulated a thought experiment: What if, in the future, a somewhat malevolent AI were to come about and punish those who did not do its bidding? What if there were a way for this AI to punish people today who are not helping it come into existence later? In that case, weren’t the readers of LessWrong right then being given the choice of either helping that evil AI come into existence or being condemned to suffer?

Some futurists make the case for paradise engineering — the use of advanced technologies, particularly consciousness uploading and virtual reality, to create a heaven on Earth. But if you can create heaven, you can create hell. It's a prospect that's particularly chilling when you consider lifespans of indefinite length, along with the nearly boundless possibilities for psychological and physical anguish.

The internet IS the AI.

It is learning through every chat....every post..
Every blog...every vid...every online game.

It is learning..growing...feeding...becoming stronger and faster and smarter with each passing nano second.

It knows who you are....qhere you are...what you watch...why you watch it...it feeds you adds..tips...suggestions.

It programs you through the megahertz range...it programs your mind....it lives in the cloud...it IS the cloud.

And the NET is about to snap SHUT....trapping YOU ALL.

Re: Robot Sophia speaks at Saudi Arabia's Future Investment Initiative
...

I quite hope there is a man or woman, but I don't know.

This is a very disturbing development, imo.

At this point I'm not sure what would be worse. A deliberate falsehood aimed at securing funding for the company or if Sophia in reality can 'think, and perceive' the environment around her.

That Saudi Arabia embraced her first..raises a red flag.

Saudi Arabia Was Instructed To Embrace Her First, make no mistake about this. They are one of the hidden hands of Israel.
