Wasn't Sandy Hook in a larger, more built-up area than this one? That means it would take less time to drive to a hospital than to life flight people in.

Most such situations don't get helicopters in for them, no matter how severe. (At least not that I've ever noticed.)

This might simply have to do with this one being in a more rural area.
