roach incident again last night, how do I get over roach phobia?
so last night I went to pee around midnight, finished and turned to my left for the toilet paper

the next few seconds is a blur, I think the roach was right on the toilet peper roll and I screamed bloody murder and ran as he dropped and ran, I got pee drops all down my legs, didnít give a bit of a damn

so he goes for underneath the bed as I go for the pet friendly bug spray, I know exactly where it is at all times

I emptied half the damn bottle under the bed, hurting my neck in the process

one of the cats was aware mommy was petrified by then and went under the bed and chased him out the other side

I emptied another significant amount of spray on him as he ran under the closet door

I managed to get the door open but by then the cats had lost interest and didnít care mommy was in cardiac arrest

I didnít see him so I emptied yet another significant amount of spray into the closet, when Iím panicked my hand jusy keeps spraying until it gets tired

I went to sit down and waited a couple of minutes, usually they hide and then as they are dying they come out and end up in the open on their backs

I checked the closet after a few minutes and saw him on his back, he had come out of hiding, I was surprised to see him not as big as I first thought he was, roach phobia playing tricks with my mind, making him look bigger as he was running around menacing me

needed ambien to get back to sleep

I hate it when that happens

happened just about 3 weeks ago with a two incher, one fell from the ceiling right in front of me just as I was flushing the toilet in the middle of the night, Iím still paranoid about what will happen when one falls into my long hair, Iíll probably never sleep again, this guy last night was only about an inch

I found a 7 inch tarantula in my kitchen closet the other day, no big deal, I put him outside

found a baby tarantula that was only 2 1/2 inches in my bedroom the other day, no big deal, I put him outside

got in a tug of war with my cat over the mouse she had in her mouth 2 days ago , she won and ran off, no big deal, Iíve put rats outside before

but roaches make me run screaming, no matter if Iím releasing bodily fluids at the time or not, my body and mind panic

one time at another house a roach came at me in the middle of a pee and I ran down the hallway screaming and peeing

any ideas for getting over roach phobia? no other bug or creature sets me off like they do

Roaches are no dirtier than the environment the're in, keep your house garbage free and let the tarantulas eat the few roaches that are slow to depart.

PS- I have a house tarantula too and she's welcome for as long as she cares to stay.cool2

I did happen to have a couple of candy wrappers in the bathroom garbage bag on these days, other than that the house is immaculate because the maid is always cleaning

this is the tarantula that was in my kitchen, next to an inverter battery

he was pretty cool, but I know the cats probably wouldnít let him be, anything that eats cockroaches is a buddy of mine!

I am always rescuing those little anole lizards from the kitties

I like to get to them before damage is done but the other day I rescued one guy who had already lost an eye :(

snakes, lizards, no problem

cockroaches, problem! this is me:

ahhh

Roaches will come into your home for three reasons- to escape extreme heat, food and most critically for water. Unfortunately (as far as your relationship with roaches go at least) your climate is an ideal semi-tropical bug environment. Depriving them of those comforts in your home and encouraging their predators- anoles like a nice juicy roach too! -is about all you can do, even chemically nuking the place regularly wouldn't be a total solution and nobody would want to live in a house that's so toxic it's a total death zone for something as hardy as a cockroach anyway.

Catseye, you need to realize you have an irrational fear about cockroaches...harhar, don't you know you are so much bigger than they are?

I personally don't like the rats, although I've never seen a rat in my house. Heck, I even had mice as pets when I was a young teenager, but the thought of handling a rat to get it outside gives me the willies.

So, I have my own phobia, but a cockroach is much smaller than a rat, and they don't normally bite at you.

Just try to remember that you TOWER over a cockroach, and that might help. I lived in Florida for 15 years, so I know about them. The second night I was in FL I had one of those flying ones fly across my face, right across my mouth...harhar, welcome to the subtropics!
...I adapt to the unknown,
under wandering stars I've grown,
by myself, but not alone...

People who don't live in a warm, moist environment don't know what OP is talking about. It's not food they are after...it's moisture.

OP, you need to insect-bomb the hell out of your house on a regular basis and cause these spawn of satan to migrate to your neighbors house.

It's the only way.
