Are missionaries working with Thai police to traffick children?
An uncle told me this is happening.

"Thailand. Well the US has been dug in there militarily and intelligence wise for decades, a dynasty if you will, a big network of missionaries who easily think like the state department and will not talk about what they see to anyone. Give you an example, them miznaries in [Thai city] played with the DEA who raided [tribe name] villages, and it was all one big party right. Drug dealing villagers who had their land confiscated, no big deal, and by the biggest drug operators themselves, the DEA. Read Politics of Heroin in SE Asia and you will see that the missionaries and the DEA and the drug running went hand in hand.

So they pump tons of misisonaries into the hill tribe along border areas to have a foot in every village, intel in every village, network with Thai army and police in every village all the way up to the Chinese border. You can be very sure the Chinese know full well what is going on under the "cover" of "missionary work" with its magic millions of dollars "pouring in from churches" of course,.......NOT. So where does it come from (usaid) etc.

Large numbers of kids not accounted for. Huge US state department network. Who would YOU have traffick the kids if you wanted it to be done by an immune party? The state department and missionaries of course. Who has the kids? The missionaries do. Who has the power to move them silently? The state department does. One way trips to child hell.

Look who takes the kids, look who has the power and motive and means, then keep looking till one day parts of the puzzle land in the road and you find them. But it is a very secret network with Thai police cooperation and Thai immigration often goes for "training" at the US Embassy in Bangkok. Now why would THAT be unless something needed to be paid for and worked out together."

That info got me thinking about child "rescue" organizations...maybe I'm just in a suspicious mood right now, but the very first ones I found (just Google them) immediately threw up red flags for me.

Some of them even use mildly-incorrect English on their webpages, ala those "send me money in Nigeria" emails we're all so fond of.

There's even a group of--wait for it--self-claimed "ex-US special forces" guys claiming to have formed a "child rescue team" where they go into countries and rescue kids.

The saddest thing is that some of these guys might be legit, and it's impossible to know, immediately, who's for real.

Rescue organization issue aside, Uncle makes a compelling case for what he witnessed in Thailand.

It is absolutely true, for example, that my own denomination has sent missionaries--for decades--to the Thai/China border.

More from Uncle:

"The Thais have no accountability, and that is perfect cover. They can be bought and paid for.

The US has control.

Missionaries are removing the children from the villages and taking them to their fake orphanages.

The darkness and corruption is huge."

There is plenty of evidence for other fake "rescue" operations, such as puppy mills posing as animal rescue groups: [link to positively.com (secure)]

In my own town, there is an outspoken "former inmate who has become a youth mentor" who gets his face on the local front page and in unwitting community media all the time. Everyone buys the garbage that he reformed in prison and now seeks to mentor young men.

In reality, he is a Black P Stone big-wig who is using his status as "mentor" to gain access to new, teenaged heroin foot soldiers (the Stones and others use teens because if they're caught, their sentences aren't as long). After my friend and I had formed and researched this theory, the guy's own brother flipped on him in federal prison and told the FBI that exact thing.

The unclassified JFK files, said the CIA have infiltrated the media, churches, and disguised themselves as missionaries.

So it's likely.

When the money is right, people's morality becomes more flexible.

Pay a man $1 to kill a dog, he'll likely refuse.

Now offer him 1 million to kill a dog, and he may now likely change his mind.

I doubt every missionary-trafficker is a CIA guy, though. As the next AC here said, money can buy just about anyone, even missionaries.

Tragically true.

Lo and behold - the State Dept "upgraded" Thailand last year, claiming that the trafficking situation was getting better:

But I absolutely agree that what you've said here has also happened.

I don't have much power over the CIA types, but when it comes to my own kind--(former) missionaries--we are connected. I know people. We have history together. And overwhelmingly most of the people I grew up with were decent loving people, not child traffickers.

All the more reason that we who are unfortunately closer to this issue MUST expose whatever is going on.

Re: Are missionaries working with Thai police to traffick children?
Most legitimate Christian missions require their employees to sign a no cooperation agreement with intelligence agencies. The reason is simple, the lives of all missionaries are put at risk if the countries they work in think they are CIA.

However I really wish we would focus some missionary work right here in the West. There are a lot of Somalis who need to hear the gospel of Jesus in Minnesota or all the jihadis who live in Dearborn Michigan .

I encourage any of you who come from missionary families, of any denomination, or who know missionaries, to dig into this question. Ask what your people saw and heard when abroad, especially if they served in Thailand, Cambodia, Burma, and other places we know are sex-trafficking hotspots.

Very interesting, SevenThunders.

I think it depends on the denomination; ours didn't have this (at least not at the general employee level - maybe the church itself had to sign something).

The larger organizations require this.
"The NAE resolution urges missions organizations not to provide information to any intelligence agency, although many already have such restrictions in place."

"Any foreigner living in a foreign culture already comes under a natural suspicion," says Jerry Rankin, president of the Southern Baptist Convention Foreign Mission Board. "If this policy is reversed, it would totally erode the ministry of missionaries."

If you don't have this clause, I highly recommend adopting it as part of your missions hiring policy. Otherwise it endangers your outreach.

Re: Are missionaries working with Thai police to traffick children?
One has to be practical, though - for example, and in some cases local governments welcomed missionary intelligence.

For example, in the lead-up to Mao's takeover in the summer of 1949, missionaries were providing information to US intel/military agents on Russian troop movements. This info wasn't necessarily harming China in any way.
