Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40169223 How easy is it to contract these dangerous prions from our diet? Grass-fed beef, rather than CAFO beef, is much safer. And avoid the processed forms beyond plain ground-beef. For decades, downed-cow and sick sheep were processed not only for dog-food, but for bone-meal and mineral supplements fed to most domesticated animals. The protein blocks that hunters and photographers put out for deer and elk also contained these "supplements" comprised of sick animal products. Chickens and other fowl and fish are also fed these same supplements, but they do not live long enough for the disease to make progress to being symptomatic. Alzheimers is probably something different than a prion disease, although the they may be related. It is difficult still to determine how easily the disease may be contracted--because it takes so very long for symptoms to develop. _______________ They let me off with a warning and a couple of bullet holes. |

Even fire cannot kill every pathogen. For example, the prions, the infectious agents that cause Mad Cow Disease, are said to be impervious to fire. And special precautions have to be taken when cremating a Mad Cow Disease patient who’s died, lest the prions be sent into the air during the cremation process where others can inadvertently inhale them. Prions are a distinct type of protein — they can self-replicate, said Adriano Aguzzi, professor of neuropathology at the University of Zurich, who led the study. When a prion comes into contact with a normal protein, it makes the normal protein alter its shape, and become a prion, too. Mad cow and scrapie affect cows and sheep, respectively, and Creutzfeld-Jakob disease (CJD) affects people. In the new study, Aguzzi's team used chemicals called luminescent conjugated polythiophenes, which are fluorescent compounds that researchers often use to stain tissue samples, so they can see what's happening in cells. The team first infected mice with a prion disease, then injected them with polythiophenes. [link to www.livescience.com (secure)] |

If it was from cows eating animal protein, every cow in the US (other than grass fed) would have the disease. There's a link between cows getting treated for warble fly with Phosmet organophosphate in the UK and high manganese/low copper in the soil that combined to create the BSE epidemic. These facts were suppressed by the pesticide company and the UK government. Phosmet organophosphate has been used at high doses in British warble fly campaigns. In 1996, ICI subsidiary Zeneca sold the phosmet patent to a PO Box company in Arizona called Gowan -just one week before the UK government admitted to a link between BSE and nvCJD. Scientist and organic farmer, Mark Purdey gave evidence to the UK BSE inquiry, that warble fly insecticide was the cause of the disease. The scientist wheeled out to rubbish Purdy's evidence -Dr. David Ray, later turned out to have been receiving funding from the insecticide manufacturer ICI. A lobby group that includes Bayer, Monsanto, Novartis, Pfizer, Roche and Schering-Plough was behind the effort to discredit Purdey. In December 1999, the same David Ray was appointed to the UK Veterinary Products Committee (VPC) -a government body that licences animal medicines. The pharmaceutical industry is all the more determined to hide the chemical source of BSE and CJD, because a spotlight on chemicals would expose the role the insecticides in Alzheimer's -- another neurodegenerative disease -- that might lead to claims which would dwarf those from BSE and CJD litigants. In fact, two leading brain researchers into CJD and Alzheimers have died in suspicious circumstances in recent years. Anonymous Coward User ID: 75160590 United States 11/25/2017 03:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Mounting research shows there’s a compelling link between a particular kind of protein and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Lou Gehrig’s disease. What’s so intriguing about that is this protein, called TDP-43, behaves like toxic and infectious proteins known as prions, which are responsible for the brain destruction that occurs in Mad Cow and Chronic Wasting Disease;1 two types of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). Mad Cow Disease affects cows, while Chronic Wasting Disease is a neurological disease found in deer and elk. As explained in Scientific American:2 “Prions are misshapen yet durable versions of proteins normally present in nerve cells that cause like proteins to misfold and clump together, starting a chain reaction that eventually consumes entire brain regions. In the past 15 years, scientists have learned that such a process may be at work not only in mad cow and other exotic diseases but also in major neurodegenerative disorders…” As Many as Half of Alzheimer’s Patients Have Prion-Like Proteins According to research3 published in 2011, TDP-43 pathology is detected in 25-50 percent of Alzheimer’s patients, particularly in those with hippocampal sclerosis, characterized by selective loss of neurons in the hippocampus, which is associated with memory loss. Research presented at the 2014 Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) also revealed Alzheimer’s patients with TDP-43 were 10 times more likely to have been cognitively impaired at death than those without it.4,5 But how do you end up with TDP-43? CAFO—A Common Denominator for Mad Cow and Chronic Wasting Disease While some prions6 serve beneficial cell functions; others, acting like an infectious agent, are known to cause neurodegeneration. TDP-43 is in this latter category. The common denominator between Mad Cow and Chronic Wasting Disease7 is forcing natural herbivores to eat animal parts, so is it possible humans are being infected with TDP-43 via contaminated meats? [link to www.healthy-holistic-living.com] when you feed cows and pigs (animal protein aka "canibilism)) it causes prions... |
