Bitcoins BIGGEST competition is NOT Ethereum...It's LITECOIN!
Though I hold more BTC then I do LTC the more I think about it, the more I'm starting to favor one over the other.

Especially with BTC about to face the full effects of the Institutional Futures markets via BOTH CME and NASDAQ listings

I was thinking last night that all it would take is some "good press" and people might begin to seriously look at LTC...especially those entering Crypto for the first time.

and here we are with these two articles today!

"Litecoin is essentially the same as Bitcoin - a currency and a store of value. While Litecoin has already completed the SegWit upgrade, and offers rapid transaction times, like Bitcoin, the platform allows for simpler protocol upgrades."

"Instead, bitcoin's biggest competitor just might be Litecoin. As of Nov. 27, Litecoin had the sixth-largest market cap of all cryptocurrencies, at $4.9 billion, trailing only bitcoin gold, Ripple, bitcoin cash, Ethereum, and bitcoin."

In my opinion it's Dash and I'll tell you why.

It seems not very many people know about the 2 different kinds of mining. Even the Youtube Guru's like Jsnip, Bix and even Clif, I don't think know about it.

So, basically there are two types of mining. Proof of Work (POW) and there is Proof of Stake (POS).

Bitcoin and Litecoin are POW coins and therefore require massive amounts of electricty. Whereas POS coins, such as Dash, require no more electricty than a computer normally uses.

Another reason why I believe Dash could overtake Bitcoin, at some point, is that Dash and other POS coins pay (rewards) the masternodes for staking coins, which is how the network is secured. It's part of their business model, so to speak. Whereas, from what I understand, Bitcoin and other POW coins require voluteers to make the network secure.

Dash has consistantly been proving itself as a superior coin for years now. But they don't seem to get the credit for it. Which makes me think that Dash is severally undervalued at $800.

Actually, Monero will leave everyone behind once adoption is more widespread for cryptos. Why? Monero is untraceable unlike Bitcoin and the rest. NO ANONYMITY...

When you consider there are 4 times more Litecoin as there are Bitcoins, theoretically Litecoin price should be 1/4 of Bitcoin but it is currently 1/100th of Bitcoin. Litecoin has much more upside potential than Bitcoin, much like silver does to gold.

I agree. I wrote a similar thread last night about all the perks Litecoin has over Bitcoin. For some reason when I woke up it was deleted.

I think Litecoin is going to make some huge gains because transaction speeds are faster and now Litecoin has just implented atomic swaps. Meaning you can swap your litecoin for bitcoin or vice versa off the chain instantaneously.

Litecoin is super popular in asian countries. I think it's going to be 2018's biggest winner when it catches on in the west.

Re: Bitcoins BIGGEST competition is NOT Ethereum...It's LITECOIN!
And AGAIN tonight across my Twitter this one pops up..

"Litecoin (LTC) is fast becoming the one altcoin to rule them all, as it races uphill behind big sister Bitcoin and off into the sunset of 2017. The only question is, by this time next year, will a $100 Litecoin be all but a memory as the digital currency soars to even greater heights?"

[link to oracletimes.com]

I'm not trying to say any one crypto is better then another..thats up to you to decide for yourselves (as I say I own BOTH LTC and BTC)

I'm simply pointing out a sudden upswing in media attention being focused on LTC.

While I hold BTC, LTC, XMR, ETH, and a dozen or so other coins, I think most people are missing the boat on what coin(s) can be used in real world applications.

Transactions per second:

BTC: 7
ETH: 15
LTC: 56
XMR: ~1700 (Memory constraints usually mean much lower)
NEO: 10,000+ (easily scalable to 50,000+)

Native cross-chain atomic swapping:

BTC: No
ETH: No
LTC: No (3rd party working on a solution)
XMR: No
NEO: Yes, native through NEO-X

Digital Identity Management:

BTC: No
ETH: Kind of but not really
LTC: No
XMR: No
NEO: Yes, native capabilities

Smart Contracts:

BTC: No
ETH: Yes
LTC: No (it's coming at some point)
XMR: No (it's coming at some point)
NEO: Yes, native capabilities

Languages supported to interact with the Blockchain for Smart Contracts:

BTC: N/A (no smart contracts)
ETH: Solidity (proprietary language)
LTC: N/A
XMR: N/A
NEO: C, C++, C#, .NET, Python, Java, Javascript, + additional languages coming

When you look at real world usage, NEO is leaps and bounds ahead of the other coins that have been around longer.

I think we'll see NEO eclipse ETH within 2 years. More and more NEO based ICO's are coming out every month.

Additionally: NEO can be run as a private chain that shares data (whatever data you choose to share) with the NEO public block chain...a HUGE factor when companies want to use blockchain but NOT HAVE EVERYTHING on the public blockchain.

Best of luck on your crypto investing!

I'm sitting pretty in LTC. I have high hopes for it, but not as high as yours. I see LTC as BTCs little brother. I see its destiny along the lines of 1/4 BTC.
