Flat land chicago area....The sun normally sets each year at 4:20ish give or take a few minutes BY DEC 21. It's been setting around that time since the end of november!
So what is going to happen by Dec 21st? I guess the new sunset will be at 3:something but NOT AT ALL NORMAL and been living here for over 40 yrs.

How do you suppose they kept everyone quite?

winter solstice has been earlier for most of the past 8 years.. and so has equinox been off. Our year is not 365 days anymore.

I know people who watch animals and two of them state their animals know its solstice already.

The more effective approach would be to share your sungazing logs. Show us that your eyes are open to what's infront of you right now. We need to know if your data comes from a belief system or a life-well-lived.

I will share this.. on November 29. I arrived early at my spot and waited and waited and waited and never saw the sun rise... it was CLEAR above the horizon but there was a cloud bank perhaps twice the width of the sun above the horizon and I never saw the disk in the clear space at all.. and left the area 20 minutes AFTER the posted rise time.. and assumed that the sun had come up early and was thus IN the cloud bank. I thus had no idea of when it rose but it rose early because I was there EARLY and it had to have come up before I got there.

Thanks to everyone who posted anecdotal observation of sunset and sunrise times.

We heard from half a dozen different sources across the USA so far - that the sun is setting and rising as much as 15 minutes off.

If you have personally observed a sunrise or sunset, we would like to hear from you.

I started noticing around 8 years ago

The thing that gets me is we have monuments that use the suns alignments on set days and every thing still lines up correctly. And there’s the astronomical software for telescopes and all still works correctly.

But thing just don’t look right
