I get it. Now, can you provide us with video showing you running your telescope and getting expected results?

 Quoting: ArchimedesGirl

You wouldn't believe me. Best go join an actual star party yourself, and witness the telescopes tracking effortlessly.

I can run Stellarium and see the sun set out my window and see the 15 minute discrepancy.

 Quoting: ArchimedesGirl

Again, were that true, no GOTO, anywhere in the world, could track the heavens. They do track. QED.

Multiple witnesses have asserted the fact that the sun is not setting when the equipment says it should.
 Quoting: ArchimedesGirl

Then they must *explain* why, using precision equipment, the traditional math and answers work.

bump and if the one above that is claiming the north star does not move and stays at this so called center... He/she has never observed it... You can set up a simple tube with the North star in it.. Toilet paper ones work great... and you can then see it does move.. it does that every single night.. go out a couple hours later and it won't be in the tube anymore... this is not new.. its been that way for 10 years since I started doing that experiment. You folks can stop posting internet bs as a substitute for really thinking and observation.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75870613

That simply isn't true. My Pringle's can wobble buster (tm) has the North Star in it all year round. Likewise, sextants still work. Permanently mounted telescopes still work.

and 74444 is so cheap he didn't even post the linky to that information. I have seen it word for word before.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75870613

Yes, you have.

If you are not doing the work yourself you do not know and copying material off the net does not prove at damn this regards this topic.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75870613

Uh, I wrote it originally, and have "done the work myself." Which requires, you know, thinking. And joining a star party to see for one's self.

get out there and do with work.. and to get tilt changes from day to day you have to be in exactly the same spot... you cannot move around.. move 10 feet and the sun will appear in a different spot from your perspective . So do the stars.. have any of you noticed when you walk at night that the stars appear to move with you?

find the moon with some marker like a the edge of a tree and walk 10 feet and it will not appear in the same place.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75870613

Then how, precisely, does celestial navigation work in your universe? And please explain how GOTOs still work, if what you are claiming is true? There's a good fellow.

IT IS FLUCATING EVERY DAY NOW. Something is going on. Did YOU actually go out there with a good view and check by the way.. because most of you who post this shit don't. I AM A SUNGAZER for much of my life in fact and I watch these things .

You prove it doesn't. I am no jackass and I am a sun gazer and I log this stuff since I go out to gaze the sun twice a day on my walks.

OP it was you who started this bullshit thread. It's up to you to prove what you say is true.

That would be too difficult for the OP, considering that she has the IQ of dog shit.

Re: Sun Set 12 or 13 minutes Earlier than Usual - go outside and look!
I heard the comment "isn't the sun setting earlier than it did last year?"

So, I looked up on G-gle when it is supposed to set where I am: 5:02.

Then I went out and watched it set. I am up high - a mountain top, so if anything, it should be a few minutes later - right?

It set at 4:49.

If you are west of the Rockies - go out and watch it set - compare what you see with the official sunset data. Simpy type

"Sunset, December 2, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ" - or wherever you are, and compare.

In the UK the sunset is on time. No difference, not early and not late.

and you check that how often personally by standing out there and LOOKING??????????????

Re: Sun Set 12 or 13 minutes Earlier than Usual - go outside and look!
Sunrise and sunset. For computational purposes, sunrise or sunset is defined to occur when the geometric zenith distance of center of the Sun is 90.8333 degrees. That is, the center of the Sun is geometrically 50 arcminutes below a horizontal plane. For an observer at sea level with a level, unobstructed horizon, under average atmospheric conditions, the upper limb of the Sun will then appear to be tangent to the horizon. The 50-arcminute geometric depression of the Sun's center used for the computations is obtained by adding the average apparent radius of the Sun (16 arcminutes) to the average amount of atmospheric refraction at the horizon (34 arcminutes).

When you doofuses who believe sunrise/sunset varies from printed tables: Use this information to make the calculations from your locations. Then get back with us if you still have significant variations. Thank you...

Sunrise this morning was at 7:16 here where I am.

G-gle says it was 7:08

I missed sunset today. But hopefully, there are more to come.

I realized today that a wobble would explain the oceans receding and then rushing back several hours later.

St. Louis also. Is the earth on a wobble?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70148119

Earth is wobbling in both rotation and tilt... yes. and more of you will notice as it worsens. It is however nothing to worry about in one sense.. you can't prepare anyway.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75131120

Yes you can..you can get away from coastal regions and or even move toward more elevation etc to avoid tidal wave when the shift happens.
That is environmental prep...then of course comes stocking food...water...first aid etc.

Again, I have observation evidence that contradicts this claim -- evidence anyone can duplicate for themselves, with precision equipment designed to measure exactly this.

Every year, as we get from solstice to solstice, these claims pop up. Yet, year after year, the Sun, Moon, stars, continue to move with breathtaking precision.

If you really think that the Sun is moving in any unpredictable way, I urge you to join a local star party, and go measure for yourself.

Missed sunrise.

Sunset was 4:50PM - G-gle time and official charts said it would be at 5:02 - 12 minutes difference.

As for the shills, so far you have insisted:

Government paid scientists can be trusted

Government controlled media can be trusted

Government funded telescopes can be trusted.

It would be the number one fucking headline on all stations in all nations.
It would be the biggest story ever.... and all of the experts in the field would be going crazy, but somehow you think they’re all in agreement world wide to keep it on the downlow.

Actually, I was responding to this guy and another one I don't want to take the time to look for now.

Your argument, 7444-something, seemed ridiculous to me. I have no trouble seeing the sun set without a telescope. Incidentally, I can see the sunrise with my naked eyes as well. So can anyone else reading this.

So please . . . people, look at the sunset and sunrise and note the times - share them here, so we can all benefit from mass anecdotal evidence.

And then, notice miraculously how MSM will suddenly mentioned a "reason" for sunset and sunrise times being a little off recently. LOL.

Sure you can see the Sun. But you aren't *measuring* it.

If the Sun were an *amazing* 12 or 13 minutes off, every telescope would be 12 or 13 arc-minutes off in targeting anything in the heavens. That's a ridiculously huge margin. And no telescope, anywhere, has a mechanism that could adapt to such a change.

Since that demonstrably hasn't happened (telescopes continue to track the heavens just fine, thank you), I am thinking that you are somehow mistaken in your eyeballing it. Since we see no other consequences arising from such a massive change, it is tantamount to proof that no such change has occurred.

As an aside, please note the zillions of posts here on GLP, going back *years* and always near a solstice, about the Sun supposedly being out of place. Yet Stonehenge still lines up. Yet, you can still get an accurate latitude from sextants. Yet Eclipses and transits occur as predicted decades and centuries ago. And yet, GOTO telescopes can accurately track the heavens.

QED.

Why is it that you morons do not understand the concept that if you make the claim, then you provide the proof?

Put up or shut up. Where's your proof, shill? We have multiple anecdotal witnesses of a fact. You, on the other hand are the only one here spouting an opinion that cannot be proved. They pay you way too much.

It would be the number one fucking headline on all stations in all nations.
